What...

A good melody

Preferably with some secondary melodies woven underneath that you only notice on subsequent listenings

Impossible to say, but to try and give it a go id say its got to have a good bassline, far too many tracks fall down cause of their MOR bass. Doesn't need to be too heavy, but its the bass that gets me going. Melody is obviously important, but originality is probably the main thing. Its hard to find music which grabs you by the balls, but when it does its great.

Ie. Was listening to Disc 1 of In Search Of Sunrise 4 the other night (mellowed in bed;) ) (actually suprisingly good CD) and theres this tune comes in about halfway through, sorry don't know the name, but the Synths just wash over you, almost violently (if your Volume is turned up as loud as mine was) It only really lasts for about 45 seconds, but it just builds...and builds... AND BUILDS... I was freaking out, but loving it at the same time :D

That was the last tune to grab me by the balls! Must get the name of it.

- Original ideas and unexpected sounds

- excellent production

- something that lets you get into a groove

- enough changes to make it interesting

- a climax that suits the tune

Been trying to think of an answer to this...and cant :? Think it must be originalty that is the most important for me. As for the rest, I just dont know

Has to have a strong rhythm section for me.. if its got some latin percussion then I'm hooked.

Tunes with a groove always get the thumbs up (preferably with a nice bassline) :D
