What sort of trips are available on the island I am going with my husband and two children aged 13 and 14 and wondered what the best day trips were

Hi Sandy - where are you staying?

I have never seen any organised bus tours in the years I have been going to Ibiza, its not a huge Island, and I think most people do hire a car and drive around. There are some fabulous beaches, to find, the Island itself is very green with some lovely drives/walks up north to Portinax, San Miguel etc, there are old smugglers caves to visit at the North of the Island. Visiting Ibiza town and D'alt Villa are a must, the architecture and history of the town are fantastic, (not to be done in the middle of the day I hastened to add - its a good 20 min walk to the top of D'Alt Villa and its hot hot hot!!) If you look around this site you will find a whole host of things to see and to visit. Happy Hunting!!

there are lots of organised tours available - both day and night, on land, sea or both. they range from island tours, to market days, to the water park. your hotel will have details or check out some of the 'phone shops' out here.

obviously, hiring a car will give you more freedom, but then everybody isn't comfortable driving in a strange land.

We are staying at the Serrinis Seaview Country Club Hotel at Port de Torrent and was wondering what is going on in the area. Not clubbers we have two children ages 13 and 14 and in early 40's still enjoy a good night out though. Don't fancy driving abroad so wondered what or if there were any trips we could do. Or is the bus service any good.

there's a bus every hour from the hotel to san an (all round the bay) and from there to the rest of the island. i'm sure your reps will be more than pleased to sell you tickets for organised tours. you have the beach of port des torrent on your door step and are on the bus route to the other beaches in the area calas bassa conta and tarida.

ps try the ses palmeres restaurant for a wonderful meal.

it'sin our restuarants section

For day time, most hotels can sort out an "island tour" for you where you see plenty of beaches - take your cosies - or perhaps Aguamar waterpark at Playa d'en Bossa.
Don't forget that there are plenty of ferries to try to different parts of the island and if you really feel like going mad, hire a plane and pilot - £60 an hour a few years ago - for a real buzz.
On a Wednesday, many make the trip to Es Cana for the "hippy market" and there is another market - better in my opinion - every Saturday at San Carlos and have a wander around the marina at Santa Eulalia on the way back - you will probably have to change buses there anyway and they have yet another market in the evening plus dozens of restaurants to choose from.
Buses are plentiful and cheap but to save time a treat in a taxi may be worthwhile at least one way.
In the evening, try to get to Ibiza Town on a Friday or Saturday , the later the better and look out for a "fiesta" night when you are there but check prices in the bars in the harbour before you buy.
You will find plenty to do - just enjoy!

The AA does a very good map of Ibiza and it number of easy walking or biking trails on it. £4.99 from good book shops
