So after a couple of weeks back, and with the 'closings ritual' around the corner... It's time I jog my brain to piece my review together.
3 nights on the island, staying at Hostal Galera in San An. It was pretty terrible, but we had to keep costs to an absolute minimum because of other commitments this year, and our trip was purely to see our Ric 'ricardooo' play the boat party and space, following his victory in the Spotlight Competition.
Saturday 6th of September
Departure day and spirits are high all round. It was myself and my other half traveling to Malaga airport then on to ibiza. Where the rest of the clan would meet us later in the day. Content whatsapps and FB messages of 'merry Christmas' and we would soon all be together again!
We got to ibiza at about 14:00 (the rest weren't arriving until later that night). We arrived at a different angle than I had before, passing Es Vedra to our right, across the island, over Santa Eulalia, then the usual passed Dalt villa into bossa and finally landed. Every time the feeling of landing in ibiza beings a feeling of arriving home. So happy.
The hotel seemed better than the reviews had made out, ok it's dated but it was clean on comfortable. Only downer was AC was not working,
Although we had arrived from Spain the heat was much more intense in ibiza, with humidity double what it was back home that day.
We had already got pretty spannered on the flight, so decided to take a siesta until things cooled down.
Rising around 6pm we went and grabbed some simple grub from the restaurant at hostal Dinamarca. Cheap and cheerful.
Feeling refueled we grabbed some bottles for the room for later when the others arrived. Then took our tinto verano bottle down to the rocks in front by Mambos to watch the sunset.
Chatting away to the glory of the fading sun, So excited to be back, so excited to see everyone... Looked like we were going to go over the top a bit tonight, even if we had planned 'an early one'.
Ric finally arrived with Al and we met them for a mojito in Mambos around midnight, t and I were already pretty gone, and we had to go back to the hotel to meet another three of or group.
They arrived around 2am finally, only to be gives two single beds rather than the three they had booked. The receptionist said it was tough and not his problem. That was the start of a few incidents with the hotel for the other half of our group. Once they had settled we all got on it a bit at the hotel, finally calling it a night around 5am.
Whilst saying goodnight to the others, outside our hotel room there was a dude collapsed in the hallway, he had soiled himself and it absolutely stank... About half an hour later we heard the guy from reception looking to find his room... This evening was the only evening we really noticed much noise or lairyness. All the other evenings were fine. I think mid season this place is probably a nightmare though, I believe 18/30 holidays usually use it.
Excitement the night before arrival had been grand, but excitement for Sunday was even greater.
