image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg So after a couple of weeks back, and with the 'closings ritual' around the corner... It's time I jog my brain to piece my review together.
3 nights on the island, staying at Hostal Galera in San An. It was pretty terrible, but we had to keep costs to an absolute minimum because of other commitments this year, and our trip was purely to see our Ric 'ricardooo' play the boat party and space, following his victory in the Spotlight Competition.

Saturday 6th of September
Departure day and spirits are high all round. It was myself and my other half traveling to Malaga airport then on to ibiza. Where the rest of the clan would meet us later in the day. Content whatsapps and FB messages of 'merry Christmas' and we would soon all be together again!
We got to ibiza at about 14:00 (the rest weren't arriving until later that night). We arrived at a different angle than I had before, passing Es Vedra to our right, across the island, over Santa Eulalia, then the usual passed Dalt villa into bossa and finally landed. Every time the feeling of landing in ibiza beings a feeling of arriving home. So happy.
The hotel seemed better than the reviews had made out, ok it's dated but it was clean on comfortable. Only downer was AC was not working,
Although we had arrived from Spain the heat was much more intense in ibiza, with humidity double what it was back home that day.
We had already got pretty spannered on the flight, so decided to take a siesta until things cooled down.
Rising around 6pm we went and grabbed some simple grub from the restaurant at hostal Dinamarca. Cheap and cheerful.
Feeling refueled we grabbed some bottles for the room for later when the others arrived. Then took our tinto verano bottle down to the rocks in front by Mambos to watch the sunset.
Chatting away to the glory of the fading sun, So excited to be back, so excited to see everyone... Looked like we were going to go over the top a bit tonight, even if we had planned 'an early one'.
Ric finally arrived with Al and we met them for a mojito in Mambos around midnight, t and I were already pretty gone, and we had to go back to the hotel to meet another three of or group.
They arrived around 2am finally, only to be gives two single beds rather than the three they had booked. The receptionist said it was tough and not his problem. That was the start of a few incidents with the hotel for the other half of our group. Once they had settled we all got on it a bit at the hotel, finally calling it a night around 5am.
Whilst saying goodnight to the others, outside our hotel room there was a dude collapsed in the hallway, he had soiled himself and it absolutely stank... About half an hour later we heard the guy from reception looking to find his room... This evening was the only evening we really noticed much noise or lairyness. All the other evenings were fine. I think mid season this place is probably a nightmare though, I believe 18/30 holidays usually use it.

Excitement the night before arrival had been grand, but excitement for Sunday was even greater.

Sunday 7th September
We woke up to bangs at the door, our mate Adam was ready to go again.
Gathering our marbles we headed down to the pool area and had some drinkies. Old cheesy tracks like a Roller Girl; dear Jessie and ATM till I come playing; sounds corny but they were setting the mood well, while we laughed and joked getting some sun and fooling about.
Once everyone was ready, we headed for the Float Your Boat meeting point, 3pm... Nobody was there so popped to Ibiza Rocks for a pint. this seemed right as we had two ibiza virgins with us; Adam and Laura. Drinks are pretty cheap in there! 2.50 euro for a pint, was surprised!
4pm came round quick and we met up with Ric, Stivi and Al. Excitement was running wild as Ric was spinning. Plenty of Desperados and some chats on the flipflop with Santa, it was 'all aboard' for captain Ricardo.
Out to sea, Rics nerves had vanished and everyone was getting right on it.
I had never fancied a boat party before, but the feeling was pretty special, especially as a friend was playing, the weather and scenery was out this world, seeing the island from the water: worth it alone... Then great tunes in the background to too it off. Lovely.
Ric dropped FYC remix and everyone was living itimage.jpg ... Goosebumps all round.
After his set we relaxed, music was still great, but we wanted our Ricardo back on. He did a great job. Completely traumatized still that he didn't record it!!!
There wasn't much of a sunset, but it didn't matter... Good vibes.
Back to port for 8pm... Met up with Stivi again so that Ric and Al could head back to Playa den Bossa. The rest of us headed back to the hotel for a feshen up before WeLove and the Spotlight Takeover later that night.
Smiles galore.
(For some reason it's not letting me upload more photos... Will try agin later)

Must get this done before we leave for the island again tomorrow!

Sunday 7th September Part 2

Back to the hotel and some tunes on, drinks down our necks, freshen up and away again.
We got to the bus station and Teresa and I couldn't wait for the bus to Space. We left the others and jumped in a cab with a couple of guys from Leeds we had just met, they seemed pretty nice and told us about the week they had partying.
It was great to arrive to PdB, San An has it's perks, but for me PdB is my fave place to stay when in ibiza. I love the vibe and the fact that everything is on your doorstep.
Had a quick tinto verano with Al and Ric at some restaurant (can't remember the name) their food looked pretty good and may try it next time.
Wanted to check out the Stripped party at we love, so headed to space for about 11pm.
So good to walk through those doors. The sunset terrace was pumping to Jason Bye... Love this dude. Great tunes, newer ones and some classics. He went back to back for the last part, not sure of the guys name, it was just as good.

The vibe was perfect and the crowd a great mix. Everyone was happy.
As the other rooms opened we had a mooch, then got a text from Al saying Ric was on in El Salon for the Spotlight takeover. We rushed through. A few people in already, I really love that room.
It was super cool seeing Ric playing in a club that means so much to all of us.
After a good dance, we headed over to the terrace for a bit as one of my all time faves: Kerri a Chandler was on. He was rocking it.
We spent the rest of the evening alternating between the Terraza and El Salon. Totally buzzing. The music in both rooms was great.
We had lost most of the group by now apart from Ric and Al.
One of our friends, who's first trip it was there decided : SHE DIDNT LIKE IBIZA!!!! I was baffled. I have brought people who don't even like dance music, and they have loved it. Anyway, each to their own and she buggered off home after half and hour with a nice Liverpudlian couple our mates had met on the plane.
The other couple got kicked out... The lad had overdone it which led to him rolling round the floor off his nutt trying to eat his money... Safe to say the bouncers had none of that and kicked him out pretty sharpish. So glad I wasn't there when it happened.
We took a brief visit to the Discoteca, what a load of tosh... Had never seen Nicolas Jaar but it was awful, left ASAP. Didn't return,
Ric did a great job in El Salon, and later on when he went b2b with the others was great too. Loved the vibe in there. Spotlight did a fab job, with the confetti and hierbas. Great party feelings. Thanks for everything! Was a bit gutted I didn't meet more people for the forum, I think i was just in my own little bubble, enjoying the music and evening.
The terraza was pumping later that evening, Richy Ahmed b2b Eats Everything made my hair stand on end, thumping thumping.
By 5am when El Salon finished T and I were pretty monged, we said our goodbyes to what was easily our best ever night at space, will try to make sure to time a trip round spotlight takeovers in the future... Bring them back next season pleeeeease!!! (Ric as resident :p)

On exiting we noticed the disco bus. Mustered our last drop of energy and ran over... No room left so we sat on the floor. Wish we had got a cab, for a full 40 minutes (trip and wait included) they played the most shocking EDM, I'm sure the bus driver was doing it on purpose hehehe.
Anyway, we saved a few quid.
In bed by about 6-6:30 and slept like babies...
Days like today are what ibiza is all about to me.
Great music, great people, big laughs, randomness and new experiences.
Best ibiza day and nght ever.
We Love Sundays...

(It's saying me pics are too large... :( )
