Weekend Rundowns

Friday: Night in watching 'a cock and bull story' which was ok but I'm not really a fan of steve coogan and having take out. Early night

Saturday: Off to london to see miss kittin which was ok, wasn't that impressed by her to be honest :? but company made it a good one. Got given a £5 entry to fabric flyer for the afterparty of their birthday there so thought it would be rude not to pop in :spank: 5 hrs later and I've just had one of the best mornings ever 8O 8O . Followed this up by a quick trip to T-bar but decided that it was best for my health and sanity that I returned home to Oxford at a reasonable ( ) hour.

My best friend from uni then came up to say hello on his way back from argentina to liverpool (via london) so we had a curry and good catch up with me feeling quite insane.

Sunday: really just merged with saturday didn't it  :spank:

Think it's about time I detoxed soon really  :spank:

Fri:started off in the new Big Chill House which was fun.

Then off to Nicky Siano (old man dj who used to play at Studio 54!!) at the Key. very strange night. started off proper disco then at about 3.30 he dropped the tempo and started to play ballards. i guess thats how it was in the olden days.

forgotten how much i like the key, loads of space to chill and chat and a proper flashing dancefloor.

bumped into old mate there so went back to his for some afters. nice

sun: spurs v west ham. cheerio hammers, its been kinda nice knowing you but now its back down to where you belong i'm afraid :) :) :) :) . MIDO rules. Lennon is awesome.

I was expecting more abuse than that and had planned several forms of attack.

Admit Lennon is geat, enjoy his final year if I was you

Sat: Had a good time at The Cross. The worst bit was getting in, the queue was horrendous at 11.30 or so. Not well organised as there were very few barriers so people kept jumping in

Once inside it was not too busy surprisingly, saw all of Kurd Mavericks set, really good electro. Inevitably he dropped a few big tunes, but he also played loads of new darker ones. The best reaction was obviously when he played his own The Rub track. Then saw Norman Jay in the middle arch for a bit, MUCH better than usual, none of that soulful vocal rubbish. Quite twisted sound from him.

Popped in to see Jo Mills finish off in the main room (David Piccioni cancelled) and she literally emptied the dancefloor, couldnt believe my eyes!! Hard to describe what she was playing, tech house, but of the boring going nowhere kind.

Sunday: Saw all the football, ManUtd and Arsenal were impressive, was disappointed with the Barcelona match ofcourse. We played ok but just missed too many chances, Gudjonson is no Etoo :( This is just a blip, i mean losing at Chelsea and in the Bernabeu isnt exactly a disaster, just hope Ronnie and Deco start to improve soon :spank:

Fernando Alonso made up for it 8)

ps: i think Defoe should stop biting people!

Good weekend in London :D

Friday - Visited the Victoria & Albert Museum with the missus in the morning (exhibit on 60s fashion). Meetings in the afternoon. Then out for dinner at a nice Meditteranean place in Kensington. Randomly ran into two former colleagues from Moscow on our way out. Then to the Kings Cross where we stopped in for drinks at a seedy but very lively bar called Masque...

and finally to The Key for Nicky Siano (ex of Studio 54). He threw in more disco and funk than when we'd seen him in Moscow, and he appeared to have given up on mixing. Still, it was a fun time and good to see some familiar faces in attendance. Had to leave a bit early (4ish) as the missus had a serious case of tired shopper's legs.

Saturday - Attended Chelsea v Portsmouth (Shevchenko... finally!). One meeting in the afternoon then we went out to dinner with friends at Kensington Gardens. Dropped Irina off at the hotel then downtown to the End for Miss Kittin.

Unlike Zarbtron, I quite enjoyed Miss Kittin's set though the highlight of the night had to be the live electro-hip hop (that's the only way I can think of to describe it) performance that preceeded her  Queue the 4 of us busting out our best hip hop moves as the dancefloor temporarily cleared  (mind you, it took until Sunday night for me to remember this actually happened ) Great night and great company. The only downside is I couldn't track down a couple of other friends of mine who were there.

Sunday - I'd bailed out of the End at 6ish due to a bit of queasiness. I'd found out Saturday that I'm sticking around town for a few more days, but we had to change hotels at midday so I was glad I hadn't caned it too hard. Lazy afternoon. Watched Man U v Liverpool. Out for Chinese food for dinner and then to see a movie, The Departed (verdict: I enjoyed it, Irina thought it was nothing special. Typical Scorcese film).

Sat: Had a good time at The Cross. The worst bit was
ps: i think Defoe should stop biting people!

I know, the sun has a great picture of it on its front page

Just glad the little rat did not score, he had a few chances but luckerly did not take them. That really would be rubbing salt into the cut

Fri - Guy from work was leaving so went to his drinks somewhere near Charing Cross. Got absolutely plastered by around 11ish (which is highly unusual for me to get so plastered so early). then headed off on my way to meet some friends in Kensington. Travelling on my own in such a messy state was not too clever as must have mumbled Kennington instead of Kensington to the cabby. Anyhow thats where I ended up wandering around for a bit before realising I was now in Elephant & Castle.....errrrr anyway got to Kensington by 1am ish and had fun for a bit!

Sat - 830am start off to see my Grandparents in leicester....ate lots n lots of food and after my afternoon power nap was fully recharged for some more of grandmas food

Sun - got back in afternoon. Was meant to go to Charles Saatchi exhibibtion but was too late so went to see a film with the girl I was meant to go with instead. Allowed her to decide as I had messed plans by being late so went to see Devil wears Prada, whcih was actually quite good!

Then off to Nicky Siano (old man dj who used to play at Studio 54!!) at the Key. very strange night. started off proper disco then at about 3.30 he dropped the tempo and started to play ballards. i guess thats how it was in the olden days.

I thought it was a great night - not strange at all. We really enjoyed listening to completely different music in London - you aren't going to hear sets like that often. The music was excellent and I wouldn't call them ballards, its just not as fast and you crazy guys like it nowadays  but the tempo could have been upped a bit around 4a.m. rather than, say, 5a.m.

The Key looked like a completely different club compared to when I've been there for after parties. I think the crowd made a lot of difference - super friendly ;)
