Weekend Rundowns

Good Monday morning, people. Time for our weekly exercise in memory recovery :D

Friday - After work, went home and [geek alert] installed a new network hard drive that will allow any of our computers to access the MP3 collection even whilst other computers are turned off [/geek alert]. Around 12ish, headed out to the grand opening of a new nightclub called Opera, put together by one of the top nightclub/promoter groups in town. Beautiful place but crap music policy (an R&B/house mix) so I only stayed an hour before going to another new club called Ten (Shadow) to see Danny Howells! :D Turns out I knew the promoter so I texted him to come down from the DJ booth and he took me back up with him. Got to chat with Danny for a while (nice guy!) and helped him with an unfortunate vodka incident. He played an amazing set - more like the Danny of Global Underground Miami than the Danny we saw at Space or here at club Gaudi a couple months back. A curiously small crowd though (maybe 100 people... compared to around 1000 at his Gaudi appearance). After seeing him off to his hotel around 5:30, it was over to club Mix for afterhours until almost 9. The club was totally going off too - lots of craziness and familiar faces all around.

Saturday - Basically rolled out of bed and straight to a friend's afternoon barbecue. Afterwards, down to the river to take in the concert festival on Red Square with tATu, Shakira and Black-Eyed Peas. I'm not a fan of any of them.. (ok, except maybe tATu  ) but I wanted to see a good show. Shakira was good and the Peas were really poor but tATu actually probably put in the best performance. Then over to a club called Crisis Genre where a friend's band performed a very good, if somewhat short set of alt-rock (highlights: a cover of the Pixies' "Here Comes Your Man" and an original tune about an orgy ). At around 1:30am, we headed over to the Camel Freemotion festival where James Lavelle was tearing up the place with a great progressive house set. The event was almost like an old-school rave - inconvenient location, industrial zone, warehouse with one side opened up, overmedicated teenagers. The missus thought the crowd was a bit too young and bailed early but I stayed on for Anthony Pappa who just blew my ears off  After that, back to Mix for afters again (though only for a couple hours) which was similary going off... must be something in the water this weekend

Sunday - Spent the afternoon shopping, picking up some things for the house, for the missus, and some cool CDs (Roger Sanchez, Faithless Renaissance, Steve Lawler Viva, Space '06). Chinese food delivery. Ripped CDs and watched Friends DVDs.

Great Weekend! :D :D :D

Spent the weekend cycling half Catalonia and half pyrines in our bike and managed to not die because of the heat despite we were wearing (shinny) helmet and thick biking costumes

Friday: Was the company summer day out so ran around in the countryside paintballing and other activitites. Was absolutely excellent, had loads of fun and paintballing is a lot better than I thought it would be 8)

In the evening the whole company went out for a meal at a new italian restaurant that had opened in Oxford - but unfortunately this place had no air-con so we ended up sweating in the intense heat... not fun, kinda ruined the experience for me, but I think the food was ok.

Then off to Love Bar where we all proceeded to get very drunk, dance on poles etc. Oh god. Good music though, housey but a bit more mainstream so the rest of the people in the office could enjoy it.

Saturday: Woke up VERY hungover, so laid in bed (still fully clothed 8O  ) until about 3pm. Forced some food down then watched crappy DVDs until late evening, when I caught the bus down to Robders for his housewarming.

(technically sunday): had a great night at Robders, was lovely to see a good contingent of spotlighters there 8). Was quite silly until early morning when I tried to sleep for a bit before SecretSundaze but only really managed to shut my eyes and lie down for an hour and a half.

Secret Sundaze was absolutely brilliant - great music/crowd etc, lots of familiar faces from the various other afterhours haunts 8O

Was a naughty boy and stayed until 9.30 before taking a very long walk with Rob and Alesh to go and get my bag, the less said about that the better 8O

Finally got back to oxford (the last seat on the bus 8O 8O ) at about 12.30, couldn't find my house  and didn't even recognise my street  and then couldn't get my key to work

Feel 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O today - my brain isn't working at all. Never again ( )

8O

Friday - Was supposed to be quiet...ready for Lovebox - Never happens  Party box was opened too early - managed an hour or two sleep 8O

Saturday - Endured the "joy" of British public transport (hot, sweaty, full of miserable people) up to Fancy London Town for Lovebox.
Spent the day on various missions trying to cross the park safely whilst not in the most upright position  to catch various "performers" caught a bit of Candy Statton etc. on main stage, SS tent & the obligatory Groove Armada playing (you guessed it...Superstylin!!! )
Funny enough, the highlight of the day was the couple of rain showers to cool down! Only moan of the day was the music was not loud enough, the tents were not big enough and the portaloo arrangements were as "cr*p" (pardon the pun) as usual... Most of these details were relayed to me by a friend on Sunday as I don't really remember the finer details...

(Also I think I spotted Robder, though declined from doing the random spotlight thing and talking wibble to strangers:lol: )

Sat Night / Sun Morn - Decided to go to house party instead of spending more cash on making a bigger fool of myself in public - The plan worked (sort of)- Great house party, lots of shenanigans that can't be repeated... To give an indication of shenaningans, I spent 45 minutes stood outside the bathroom door chatting with fellow party person about how long someone had been in the bathroom and no-one was responding when we knocked on the door.... getting more and more concerned, we grabbed a "normal" person to get them to help.... they pointed out the door we we're banging on happened to be the front door not the bathroom door...nuff said:oops: :spank: 8O 8)

Sunday..... Recovered to realise I wasn't where I thought I was... Told my other half to meet me in the wrong place due to confusion... spent 2 hours correcting the error - Late afternoon Sunday roast at my local... Ahhhh Food! a couple of beers and an afternoon of snoozing on the sofa....8)

Today - Regretting not booking today off and thinking, where did Fridays "BIN" Thread go.......

sun - quiet walk around Pollock park with the intended and her folks then a night of catnaps and food

I had a very sensible weekend - Apart from far too many cigs - must stop this bad bad habit - throat is killing me today...:spank:

Sunshine and sunbathing, BBQ's, reading, oh and spent 3 hours last night chasing a baby mouse out of the kitchen - still there I think - does anyone know where I can buy one of those humane mousetraps????

We spent a stoned 3 hours fashioning a "trap" from a bucket, a length of wood, a cardboard "plank" with dog food on the end for the mouse to walk along, then fall into the bucket - needless to say, it didnt work...... I dont like mice (they run far too fast and change direction eeeeek!!!) but I dont want to kill it with a cat, a mousetrap or poison..... please help me!!!

.... and yeah, where's the "Bin" thread from Friday???:?

A nice chilled weekend for me 8)

Fri - Kaz and I stayed in and watched BB eviction

Sat - Done a few hours in the office while Kaz done some shopping and met up with her in Leith. In the evening went to Stirling where we cosumed a huge amount of vodka with friends in a back garden till the small hours. Remember scoffiing chicken lasagne before I went to sleep and ended up wearing half of it :? :spank:

Sun - woke up with the shakes due to the alcohol intake. Bacon butties soon sorted me out before heading back to Edinburgh. Later went for a drive over to Burntisland and won Kaz a cuddly toy at the fair :p Had fish n chips before heading back home.

All refreshed and ready for Global Gathering this weekend ;) Bring it on....

Will do - Haven't been to Turnmills / Gallery etc. for a loooong time.... would be good to come and see you in action.... Like you said though - Hot! I'm preffering locations with outside terraces or decent air con at the minute....

Maybe that should be a new thread - Which london clubs have the best aircon + Music at this time of year....

HOWELLS IN SENSIBLE NIGHT SHOCKER
Well, I think the unfortunate vodka incident took a bit out of him. I invited him to afterhours but he was really tired and I think he had to travel on to another gig on Saturday.

sanchez at turnmills on sat night...

night started slow... "its looks like a quiet one i said"... next thing i know, the main room is chocka, and resembled a sauna, even with the aircon "on".

good night had by all, and got kicked out at 6am, with the main room still 3/4 full.
