Weekend Reports!

So, I suppose half our crew is off on the island (or on their way there) for the closing parties.... but the rest of us can discuss our weekend revelry...

Thursday - Arrived in Almaty on the red-eye flight. Took a nap, went for a walk around town, had one meeting, had a great dinner courtesy of my mother-in-law, then off to meet up with my friends for their pre-wedding drinks.

Friday - Had a short meeting in the morning, then Irina and I met up with my friend James and his entourage to go pick up his bride Elmira from her home (at which time he had to successfully manouver through a series of challenges while the whole neighborhood watched!). From there the caravan headed to a lovely pavilion in the middle of a small lake for the ceremony. That was followed by a couple of hours driving around to some of the city's landmarks for photos, then to the reception which was a lot of fun. Post-wedding drinks and dancing at a club called Fashion Bar. Photos to come...

Saturday - Went out for a nice family lunch at a restaurant serving up traditional Central Asian cuisine. Later in the evening, met up with a bunch of old friends at a brew pub. Some of us then headed to an open air punk/metal/industrial club called Sport and later moved to a nightclub called Da Freak.

Sunday - Big family lunch with the in-laws. Then went to a mountain-top park that overlooks the city for a stroll, some photos and beer. Back home for pizza and football (my in-laws are all Man U fans... they were very gracious in victory ). Left late night/early Monday morning morning for the flight home.

Really enjoyed spending time with Irina's family and being back in Almaty for the first time in 6 years.
GREAT WEEKEND! :D :D :D

Mine was really nice - well part of it..

Fri: Lovely evening in, chilled, drank beer, listened to some new tracks just downloaded - had a lush night.

Sat: I had an urge to get some Autumnal photos - so dragged Phil off trekking in the woods/river - got some fab photos - even managed to spot an otter (which had me pissing myself laughing at a thread I read on here "what is the funniest/weirdest thing anyone has said to you") and a Heron.

The evening plan was - Factory Girl on DVD, nice meal, a bit "us" time after a very busy week - best laid plans and all that....

Phil's mate decided to decend on us with "new girlfriend in tow and a party bag" - he's one of those people who just does not slow down/shut up/wait for your response/tells 8 stories in one go - aaaarrrggghhh!!!

I could have done with a valium to calm down when he finally went at 2am - totally pissed off he had spoilt my night.

Sun: he turns up again with his mate this time - to collect the car (and hinted that he wanted to listen to the Everton match - "errrr NO F**k off - my head is still battered off Sat night mate!!"

he left...... I finally sat down to chill and watch my DVD around 3.00pm yesterday - after all that - it was a let down..... (actually I dont think it was - I think it was my frame of mind......)

Roll on next w/e!!!!!

Friday, went to an "Beyond the Iron Curtain' dinner night :? too much food and drink

(check out my facebook for further details  )

Saturday had a good friend's 30th birthday... i was surprisingly well behaved!

Sunday, met up with my younger brothers who i have not seen for at least a couple of monthsand they took me out for a nice dinner.

am now off to travel for work for a week to some of the smallest towns in existence

Friday night - chilled with some food and wine with girlfriend

Saturday - slept in for the first time after getting back from Ibiza on the Monday then got dragged round the shops with th ebird so she could get last minute ibiza goodies.

Had a nice meal in the evening for my Mum's birthday and muchos wine and beer!

Sunday - a cracking SUnday roast!

Then had to take the bird to Luton airport, this usually takes about 1 and 15 minutes (an hour and a half mx) so we left with a good 2 hours to spare just in case, bloody hell, we must have made it by seconds, had the mrs in tears in the passenger seat cos she was convinced she'd missed her flight! Literally had to just stop at th edrop off point and she ran the rest of the way, I circled the drop off area waiting for a call and thankfully all was good! I think her poor little heart will still be pounding right now she was that stressed, flusterd and out of breath!

Oh yeah, it took me nearly 2 hours to get back! Brilliant sunday night fun!

No, it actually was a bit disapointing. It was interesting in that I didn't know much about the story, but as a film it was just OK.
