Why don't you just not bother with a cake and pass Ferrero Rocher round at the evening do instead. Everyone will think you're some sort of Ambassador.

That says October 12th.

Which we ALL know is MY BIRTHDAY and no-one should be doing anything that time of year apart from going out to MY birthday.

Capische?

Buckley - you're obviously wrong about the work thing... I didn't spend any time on here at work today as I was getting done that which needed to be done. Unfortunately, that means I missed this delightful thread-full of banter

(plus, I'm also not a 9 to 5er ;) )

just been quoted £600 for one from "Choccy Woccy Doo Dah"

is this excessive?

Damn, that's a pretty expensive cake!!! Ever thought about going for their "middle of the road cake"? The "Bridezilla".

Much of my work is two hour conversations with clients MDs in the evening. They spend most of the day in meetings and only return your calls outside office hours. They also all live miles away from London so it's convenient for them to call when they're on the motorway home of a night. Plus they like to be in a position to say "Obviously can't do anything about that huge underpayment now....." before trying to avoid me until the same time the following day:lol:

Know how you feel. I'll get calls from journalists (especially those in different time zones) at all hours and then have to explain to them that, "no, I can't track down someone to find out that information for you as it's after hours and I don't really want you writing an article about that bulls**t anyway"
