Was San An always so filthy?

With the weather not being so great today we decided to take a drive over to San An for a walk and a spot of lunch.

I couldn't believe how dirty the pavements and especially the promenade up to CDM was. Don't they clean it? It was genuinely filthy with dog mess littering the floor not great with a two year old.

as far as I can remember (which is back to 2004)...sadly yes. the dog poo problem seems to have gotten worse though, and not just in san an. I for one can´t believe the owners don´t take care of it!

Yes you're right the dog poo is not mutually exclusive to San An. We have a apartment overlooking Figueretes beach and it's like a dog poo paradise of an evening, lucky for us we've seen it, so know not to go on that beach. We went to Cala Codolor to reminesce of our wedding last year at Elixir yesterday and literally as we parked the car we watched a dog owner let his dog poo on the floor and walk off. The same happened outside Los molinos hotel last night. I agree Stivi, dog owners should take responsibility. Talking of dogs, what's with the sudden rise in Pitbulls. They seem to be everywhere and not always muzzled.

But back to San An, the walk up to CDM looks like it needs a good jet wash.

I'll admit it's been a week since I was in San An....don't know if there's any slow down in street cleaning as the season winds down. We were staying in the Calo des Moro area, there are a lot of dogs (and walkers) about, everything was clean, they were out sweeping the pavements before sunrise and continued all day, they were out with the pressure hoses on the prom a lot, I was impressed, bins emptied frequently etc. Saw a couple of people not pick up after their dog on some rough ground, tut, tut, and the usual litter; bottles, plastic etc, left inches from bins.:(

Promenades attract dog walkers, dogs poo, and people are irresponsible about picking it up unless there is enforcement of a tough sanction and CCTV to back it up. When the promenade continues right round the Bay it'll be more of the same. I hope they have enough resources to clean all that up year round ! People with their dogs off leads are the worst offenders for not picking up their poo, almost as bad as the litterers who can't put their trash in a bin !!!

You'd think that just good old common decency would be enough for dog owners to clean up a big pile of steaming dog shit, where theres thousands of kids around.

Where I live you would be chased with your dogs shit if you didn't pick it up..

Load of lazy what nots round our parts - dogs off leads fouling all the lanes. To be honest our biggest problem is horses - some prick has taken to walking them through the main part of the village to leave enormous steaming piles of shyte outside peoples' front doorsteps. The next time it happens it's getting scooped into a bucket and thrown on his own front door.
