Gromit blaze 'tragedy'
By This is London
10 October 2005

The company behind the successful Wallace and Gromit films said today that its "entire history" was destroyed in a devastating fire at a warehouse containing all its theatrical props....

A spokesman for the company said all the sets and models from the latest Wallace and Gromit film were safe and had not been archived in the warehouse.

But the sets from A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave are all thought to have been destroyed, along with those from Chicken Run - Aardman's first feature-length release.

On the news last night it was reported that "Britain has lost some of it's national treasues, etc etc" Oh get a grip, it's only putty any which way you look at it. And it's not exactly antique.

FFS I'm sure they can rustle up a new one from the millions of pounds of revenue created. It's hardly a disaster. I suppose I wish it hadn't happened rather than had, but ha way man.

I still think it's a sad event.

But it's obviously not as earthshattering (excuse the pun) as the earthquake in South Asia, which one of the company's executives rightfully pointed out.

News people these days are prone to excessive hyperbole
