i thought it might be nice to start a thread for the benefit of the non carnivors on the board.

i was in otto cappuccini's in santa gertrudis today, purely in the name of research, and took these photos of the buffet which costs €7 per person.

doesn't it look delicious?

Please feel free to post any other good veggie friendly places

Mate my wifes a veggie and has been for 15 year, you have just
turned her on big time with that photo, looks well nice ;)

Opps i just realised it ony takes 7euros to turn the missus on :? :?

the best idea on this board in a long time. Top draw Stephen. I'll have to show my veggie friend this! :D

Can you eat outside at that place Stephen?

Always find it tricky to find restaurants which a good vegetarian selection for my partner who's a veggie (especially as I love meat and fish!)

yes you can eat al fresco, the terrace is very popular, but way too hot for me in summer. i prefer the air conditioned interior which also has the famous 'ceramic seabed floor'

did i mention that as it's a cafe/bakery type place it closes at 4pm. the buffet is lunchtimes only.

it's in santa gertrudis, quite near to the swimming pool, about 150 metres from the church

where is the cafe locatedat?
been a veggie for 7 years looks great

from tomorrow otto cappuccini will be open at night too!! :D

This is great! I'm a vegetarian for 9 years now, never been to Ibiza and this topic makes me to get to the White Island asap!
Yep, veg* people get their feast! :D

Chiriguto on cala gracionetta does the best veggie paella.
La Torre, cap negret does a mean tunbet mallorque.
passion at PDB for a good old stodgy veggie English breakfast.

This is a great thread for veggies. Can anyone confirm that Otto Cappuccuni in Santa Gertrudis is still as good for veggies as reported here in 2004/5? Will it be open in the evenings in May?

Also, any recommendations for veggies in Santa Eularia?

otto's will be open in the evenings but it is no longer exclusively vegetarian. i saw somebody with a hambuger in there the other week though i must say the chips looked fantastic!

Thanks for your reply, Stephen. I assume it is still worth a visit for vegetarians who are open-minded about what other people choose to eat?

I can highly recommend Bambudda Pure, it's a new cafe at Bambudda grove thats open 10am-3pm serving really good veggie wholesome food (90% organic too)

The smoked tofu sandwich is tooo yummy.
You can sit in or (as we did) get a take away on the way to Beniras. 8)

We called there when in Ibiza recently and can confirm that Otto Cappuccini in Santa Gertrudis is no longer 100% veggie. However, there are always good options for veggies. The couscous was very good and filling. The brocheta (vegetable kebab served with rice and soy sauce) was more expensive and not such good value.

The main problem with the place is the allegedly artistic ex-pats from London and New York who call in with their laptops to use the free wireless broadband connection. Why is it that these pretentious types have to talk so loudly?

Hi Sandi, only 6 months late with a reply :) but Bambuddha Pure is no longer open. They've moved up to San Llorenc, using the garden from the excellent 'La Paloma' italian restaurant during the daytime, (just down from the church).

Really beautiful setting and great organic veggie food and juices. It's called 'Dove Deli'.

'La Paloma' is also well worth a visit. It's not vegetarian but there are some options and the food there generally is amazing.

Thanks for the heads up, and just in time too, we fly out there tonight. 8)
I know La Paloma so we'll go and check it out, we're staying in San Carlos so not too far either.

Thanks again x

E.C.O. in San Joan has to be without doubt the best vegetarian restaurant on the Island... it's totally veggie, are there any others? One of the last hippie haunts is such a chilled and unique place to hang out, the food is amazing and it's pretty cheap :)
