V Festival Review

After a mammoth journey and nearly missing the train from bolton to piccadilly because I was using the toilet at the other side of the platform : oops: we finally got to Manchester Coach station where we were getting our National Express from.

Once we got there the coach itself had enough seats but the storage/luggage compartment was completely rammed out :o so we had to wait until the coach people put another coach on - Luckily it wasn't that long :) And we had loads of room on the coach as it was only half full : ) -This coach also had the entertainment from Sarah the animal noise making extraordinaire!

Coach didnt take so long, (compared to the MASSIVE trek it takes to get to Glasto from Liverpool).
We got there about noon and there was a fairly large queue to get in, we later found that security were searching everyone! :whistling: But luckily for us the bloke in front had tried to sneak a few bottles of stella in so we had to help him polish it off, which helped the time go by a bit quicker ;)

Once in there we just opted for the green camp site. Great land with cool looking trees (did I just say that), and the weather was perfect (and Shaun's mallet proved to be the most popular object with everyone trying to get their pegs in the rock hard ground!) ; )

Friday was pretty lame in terms of music and stuff. There was a couple of tents playing music, but each tent was playing the same kind of stuff. We finished up in the jjb arena and that closed v early. Then went back to a mates campsite where we got immensely cained. Disgraceful antics.
It then took me just under 3 hours to get to my tent (a two minute walk)

Sat - SHOWERS!!! Checked out the showers on my way to the arenas and found they were in V good condition and no-one was having one- so I well had some of that
The phone networks seemed to get really busy on the saturday. I was on my own for pretty much all of the day as couldnt get hold of anyone but got to see loads of bands that I wanted to : ) Idlewild were ok.
Lottie was ****ing ACE. (And I had the most gorgeous blond girl dancing in front of me)
Franz Ferdinand were cool, even ran into a mate who lives by mine there!
The Roots were very good but Saturday night was all about the Prodigy. :bounce:  That mosh pit scared me a bit :o  So after about 30mins I moved from the middle front to the right speaker.

Sunday - Up bright and early so could meet people and not be billy no mates!
Went to the showers on 2 occasions but the queues were a JOKE! After getting egg on my leg (dont ask) I made a stand and queued up again for about an hour to get one.
Unfortuately missed Tom Vek (why was he only on for 20 mins!?)
Goldie Lookin Chain were comical as always. The bacardi b bar just didnt stop and was completely twatting it out : )
Made the effort to see the Magic Numbers properly (I cant remember if I seen them at Glastonbury) and the gig in Liverpool last night clashed with a mates birthday. They were cool : )
KT Tunstall was also good but we left early to go on the hunt for some decent food (anyone else think the food stalls at V were V crap>!?) Come one Branson - Sort it out ;)
The Zutons played the main stage to a packed crowd with the sun belting down :)
Missed the polyphonic spree, roisin murphy and some more I wanted to see (gutted). But caught the Kaiser Chiefs again which was ace, but ended up somewhere else? *(How messy was this weekend) :o
Robert Plant was ok.. But the CHEMICAL BROTHERS!!
**** me!

That really was immense. :D :)

That closed the festival and everyone headed back to camp. Good to see some tight security on the camp site (particularly the girl from the wirral doing the door to the red site by the coach station) ;)

Must have lashed it down with rain early monday morning as woke up after 3 hours sleep in a damp sleeping bag and realised the tent was leaking (NOT AGAIN!! Glasto flashbacks!) but realised the festival was over and I managed to stay dry(ish) till now so there wasnt much point getting worked up over it.
Took us ages to get out of the car parks but we had a laugh... probably the funniest weekend Ive had this year : )

I just wish you lived closer to FLT and we could get up to all kinds of minxiness together  ;)

Can you let me know what 'cool' trees are like as opposed to 'uncool' trees, I don't want to make a tree faux pas and like 'uncool' trees  ;)

As for the trees! They have some mad ones over in Staffs man (and no its not the mushrooms talking before someone says it)

Think a mate of mine got some photos, will try and get a copy

Ok, I'll take your word on the Staffs trees, do your Scouse trees feel really inadequate now in comparison

Cool review Nish!! 8)

I actually thought there was quite a good selection of food @ Chelmsford

Top weekend. Weird reading a review of everything in reverse to how my weekend was!

Chems & Prodigy rocked it and yes, about half way back from the stage was scary too!!

You know what, I'm looking out my window and London trees are pretty shit too

Nice review nish.

All sounds very familiar, although it seems like you got to see a few more bands than I did. (I got kinda side-tracked groovin in the bacardi bar)

Prodigy and Chems were defo the highlights. Thought streets were good live even though they are not my favourite group. GLC were v funny.

THANK GOD for the sun and women in bikinis!!!!
