so they started 1 hour earlier and finished way earlier (2am ??)
than last year when kalkbrenner started at 3.30am ??

the fact the uber-tolerant PeePee's are no longer in charge after last sunday's local elections might have something to do!

i'm sure if you ask the sant jordi residents they'll tell you the music should have finished two hours earlier...

i remember you asking often about afters... to go that way the PREF should have won, as they were the only ones openly talking about being more permissive with the opening hours, legalizing after-hours (drugs and prostitution too), etc! and guess what? hardly anybody voted them so they didn't get a councilor anywhere!
 
In terms of reports, not much to say about the Opening. Some solid sets. Martinez Brothers did it for me - just proves how much I am changing my tastes in music. Though has to be said ............ like Space, Ushuaia Opening is never ever as good as their Closing. Also, I know the night was all about B2B..... but this B2B bubble needs to burst..... the more you do it the more the novelty wears!

It's the pairing of random acts together that I dislike. Like they're picking names out of an f'n hat.

B2Bs are terrible if those involved have no chemistry. No rapport.

Increasingly they are being used as a marketing ploy to squeeze more acts onto a line-up and appeal to a wider audience.

I'm the same!
The last Godskitchen UK event was all B2B sets, over 20 pairings i think over the 3 rooms.
Not sure how it went, hopefully well, as i know @Ikoda was playing but I'm just not a fan.
 
Radio 1 had an Essential Mix tent at Global 2015 which was all B2Bs. Great performers throughout, but very few sets were actually worth listening to (with a notable exception being Sasha vs Fanciulli).

Just a horrible idea making an event specifying in B2Bs tbh. Seeing it too often. SW4 is also jammed packed with them this year.

its generally a grim idea unless, as you rightly say, the partnership will actually work musically. Some are being thrown together it seems.

have seen some great ones and some horrific ones.

Agree! I'm getting like that too! Some work right: Joris Voorn & Nic Fanciulli have chemistry and have a good time. Coxy & Fanciulli work. But the other random pairings we are getting is just crackers I agree.

Solomun has it right at +1. Both have separate sets, and then at then for the last hour have a play around B2B when everyone else is wrecked, they are wrecked (Solomun probably had a bottle of Whiskey by then)..... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but its all good fun!
