I know the difference between UK house and UK garage, but can someone clarify what the difference is between US House and US Garage for me, and which DJ's play each,
Thanks!
In the US they really don't have US Garage....
From what I learned from my friends on your side of the pond US Garage is what I know as Funky/ Disco House (but with American/Canadian DJ's)
Garage over here (north America) is whatever comes out of the UK.....
I think I just confused myself.......
But the bottom line is there are very few US DJs that are "Garage DJs" It comes from your side...you've just labelled what we call Disco House, US garage.....
Now I'm dizzy!
Actually there is a big US Garage movement, especially in Toronto. I would say US Garage is characterized by more vocals especially R&B and Gospel vocals over slower Disco/Funk/House beats, as opposed to UK Garage which is based more on the 2 step rhythm. There are many DJs that spin it and many promoters that promote it. Check out www.garagehousemusic.com, based out of T.Dot for more info. If you live in Toronto, check out the Garage 416, Movement or Milk parties.
