sasha back at cream in ibiza for the first time in a long time at amnesia for a live essential mix! sounds fcukin ace!8)

on the friday night at mambo you could have jorge valdano moaning about "sh!t on a stick" and it'd still be fcukin cool.:D 8) one of the best nights of the whole summer that is.

not that i am even remotely interested but even for the oi oi brigade that looks well pish!

i have no interest in radio 1 anymore except for the occasional essential mix

it's nothing to do with the oi oi brigade ( ), it's about seeing mambo sprawling with people with the music pumping out a decent whack and being with your mates. the oi oi brigade get everywhere now, i'd prefer them any day to the kool 4 skool dc10ites who think dc10 is an outdoor club!

the guests on the friday are always decent too (e.g. prydz last year)..........the sunset moment is class also.

steve edwards doing redemption song last year was 8)

note - i dont fall under the dc10 too cool for school bracket! im not cool in the slightest. more the bearded chin stroker partyboy 8)

all im saying is, i dont think r1 weekend looks as good this year as it did in previous years. ive been to one before and had a great time, and ive been at quite a few ES's from Mambo and other places. Its just their policy is sliding away from dance music and its a bit pish.

don't worry, i never for a minute thought you were cool;)

fair enough, so what you are saying then is that "it's not as good as it used to be";) .

out of interest when you say moving away from dance music, what dya mean exactly??

im not trying to say its not as good as it used to be, im saying it could be a better programme thats all, considering how many people book their trips on the strength of that weekend...

thoughts on radio 1 to follow when i have more time

actually you know what? i cant even be ar5ed backing up my statements with explanations

consider any opinions i've expressed null and void from now on....

i would agree with phil here

the dance shows have been moved/shortened and generally pissed about

is Tong not down to 2 hours now to give Scott Mills an extra hour

(i know that there are a couple of dance In New Music We Trust shows during the week - but the weekend is where it should be

Radio 1 week last year was a pleasant surprise with all the live mixes from the various clubs and the main event of this years harks back to the Privilege/Manumission one a few years back getting Sasha in

but i remember years ago that they used to take half the roster there and most of the fri - sun was live from Ibiza

remember Tong & Jules's afternoon show & Lisa I'Anson going AWOL

i'm afraid the Radio 1 emphasis is on formulaic shows with 1 joke or Urban drivel

the inmwt shows are utter rank

whenever i turn on its bosh bosh, or fedde le grand guff

i used to set my alarm on weekend mornings to get up for the blue room and sit and "chillax"

but i dont listen anymore, maybe its better? dont see the point when there are hundreds of radio stations online to find and download.

Hmm on first impressions Im disappointed :? but then again I was expecting it to be commercial and cheesy  Im going to this cos I fancied a change in my Ibiza holidays plus we are meeting people for the first time and some mates.

Does anyone know whats happening in Space? I think Laurent Garnier played last year or the year before and his set was amazing 8)

Also will the car park be open for the radio one sunday? ;)

I thought it was great when it was at Punta Es Moli - we had such a good time there over three days in 02. It was back there in 03 as well.

Jules show from Mambo in 98 was excellent as well. On a saturday afternoon , there was a really good atmosphere that day..

the LGDP is sorely missed, as are the likes of giles peterson who used to vibe it out from KM5 or pacha terrace, etc

i hear you all. changing the 6pm on friday start was sacrilege.

i loved it in the days of rampling, yos, lottie, seb, etc:D  8)

as they are doing amnesia this year, the sunday will be the unofficial afterparty as it has been on many occassions in the past. it also happens to be space's birthday that wknd.

nevertheless, i doubt the car park will be open. that has only ever been for opening and closing parties.

to be fair tho, for many years the coverage wasn't much more than this years, (well at least from about 98-03). the afternoon slot is still there albeit it is likely to be vernon kaye rather than anyone else. (his show last year was funny tho, classic tunes in the middle of the day - perfect).

the only slight alteration is that there is no late sunday night giles peterson type show.

(i'm not including the 10yr anniversary in this)

tbh i'm surprised the breakfast show lasted as long as it did!8O

For me, Radio 1's Weekender, is best on the Radio from here!! On the Island, its just too damn busy, full of sweaty mainly English yoffs!! I have been there before, but never really enjoyed, too crowded, not classy enough, and certainly not underground!!

Remember R1 weekend in 01, Ministry at Pacha o the Friday ,had Lottie & Yousef playing with Marc Hughes, they put 7900 thro the Door that night with 1500 0n the Guest List!! Great for Promoters, not so good for the Punters!!

i remember a mix coming from Space on the sunday - Gilles Peterson

came on after Carl Cox on the terrace and i think his change of mood emptied the place but the music was incredible
