Here's an update on whats going on here at www.undergroundhouse.net and our label Flat & Round:

There's a very limited number of Promo Copies of our 5th release - Funky Transport Vs Joneeq "Deeprooted" [incl Jay Tripwire Remix] up for grabs at our store, grab them while you can! http://www.flatandround.com/shop/

check out some samples.

A1. Deep Rooted: http://www.flatandround.com/ram/deeprooted.ram
B1. Jay Tripwire Remix: http://www.flatandround.com/ram/deeprooted_tripwire.ram
B2. Shall We Play?: http://www.flatandround.com/ram/shallweplay.ram

Iain Macpherson a.k.a. Funky Transport has teamed up with friend and fellow Scotsman JoneeQ for this the 5th release on F&R. Funky Transport first rose to notoriety back in 1996 when he was signed to Ralph Lawson’s 20 20 Vision Label, since then he’s had acclaimed releases on Playhouse, Chez, Alluv, Freude Am Tanzen, Brique Rouge and more recently his own Flygaric Tracks label. On the A side check out the slice of stripped down, dubby house that is Deep Rooted, fat bass, super smooth vocals with a mesmerising hypnotic groove make this record one to watch for 2004. Over on the flip Canada’s finest Jay Tripwire is on remix duty and doesn’t disappoint, Jay cranks it up tech house style and delivers a solid main room in fabric kinda vibe whilst overlaying wicked 80’s style synth keys... last but not least “Shall We Play?” brings it downtempo style creating the feel of a 23rd century smoky jazz bar...

Watch out for forthcoming releases on F&R from Demarkus Lewis and J-Rod Featuring Adina Welch, samples are up at www.flatandround.com

looks like a cool tune but suprisingly i'm not keen on the jay tripwire mix. Maybe its the compression but there's a bubbly sub bass sound that starts around 0:43 in that sample and it really messes with ur ears in a bad way. Like i said tho, could just be the low bitrate :)

Btw this may seem like an odd question but.... Do you have any respect for pete tong? ;)

Anyways good luck with the miami event

its the keys in the second half of jays remix that really do it for me, on the original you really need to hear the vinyl, those real audio samples just don't do the sub bass any justice at all...

its been getting really good feedback from all the big jocks who got promo's

and Pete Tong, I think he's wasting an opportunity to push quality tracks to the masses.

however you do need "entry level" dj's like him to help bring new people into the scene. I just wish he didn't always have to play such a bunch of lowest common denominator shite.

This is actually the first release I sent him a promo copy of. will be interesting to see if he plays it.

I registered on that undergroundhouse forum. Seems like there's a lot of people like a certain member on this forum. I'm sure you know him... I realise people can have a passion for a certain genre but why only listen to one style of music? (not directing that at u btw!) I like a lotta variation myself :)

Listening to all this stuff makes me wanna knock up some deep house tracks. Its been a while!

Lookin forward to FAR07 on 12" :D

who? I bet its someone from my board :D

I suppose it does follow that an underground house forum is full of people who are into underground house music ;)

glad u like the j-rod, I love it, mind you I love everything on F&R, wouldn't release it otherwise...

Nice nice nice .. gonna nose at this tomorrow when the Night Nurse aint taken affect!

When you say underground tho .... what do you mean?

these days 'underground house' is suposedly deep house, though who decided that i dont know. Underground is a bit of a loose term IMO.

I wont bother naming who it was btw, i'll only cause upset! As to people followin 'underground house' on ur forum, yep that would make sense ;) but it would be a much nicer place if there wasnt so much 'single mindedness'. It seems a few of ur members think so too lookin thru a few posts. I posted a couple of replies in the producers section, dunno whether i dare wander into the other sections! :D

the term underground house covers a lot more than just the deep stuff... its intentionally a loose term.

although we do have a no prog, trance or hard house rule I wouldn't say the board is particularly single minded... we just don't like cheese.

here's some of the pro's feedback from the funky transport promos :D
