Im booking my holiday for the 6th to 17th of August, and just noticed my passport is expiring on the 6th Feb 2008...is there a rule about having to have 6 months exactly left on your passport?

Are they strict about this or should I haul ass to the passport renewal offices?:?

I'd do it as a precaution (you wouldn't want to get caught out!!). My passport runs out in Feb '08 and I'm going in September so I'll be re-newing too!

Me too - don't chance it.

cheers, I had the day off so went to re-new this morning. Post Office do that 'Check and Send' thing at £73, hopefully will only take two-three weeks. Booked my flight today so it'd better show up on my doorstep.

Apparently Spain are one of the countries that are strict about the 6 months business – I’ve done the same & the good news is that whatever time you have remaining on your old passport – in your case up to Feb next year – is added on to your new passport.

There is also a variety of ways to renew - do it yourself, let the post office do it or visit your local Passport office - subject to how urgent you need your new passport ( all different costs )

To be honest, I've been searching quite a lot of holiday forums about the Spanish ruling, no-one seems to know lol. Most people are directed to the uk passport government site but that might aswell be in a different language.

Dont panic!

no min validity for Spain! as long as ur passport is valid when u exit Spain you are OK - for confirmation I called the Spanish Consulate

0207 589 8989 then press 2 immediately u will get a recorded message with the info

PS for this useful piece of info could someone recommend a nice spot to stay near the beach in N Ibiza - did post a few weeks ago but no replies

Willing to spend about 120 euros a night for a double

Have to say I'm quite impressed with the "Check and Send" service...my re-newed Passport turned up on my doorstep this morning, after only a week. roll on August.
