have any of you done so?
& if so are you allowed on the plane with say one of those UDG bags as hand luggage?
i am a little scared that will not let me take my records on the plane with me WHERE I CAN SEE THEM & if that's the case i am going 2

can anyone tell me the best way 2 go about travelling with choons?

cheers people.... :D

I got on a flight to Ibiza with a 60 UDG bag as hand luggage but it's not to be recommended !!!
I put it in with normal luggage on the way back and it was fine.

If you need to take more than 60 records, i'd use a box, secure it with a good padlock, put it in with normal luggage and hope to god you see it again !

You'd have to be very unlucky to lose anything. I would insure yourself against any loss anyway.

On my fligh home from Ibiza, one of the Head Kandi DJs was on my flight, right in front of me. He had a huge great bag of records, as well as other luggage, so u should be ok.

cheers guys...

i am really shitting myself about my records... i am rather over protective about all my 'music stuff' even when i am @ home!!!! & the thought of them disappearing whilst in the middle of a journey such as this.....
*insert spewing emotion* times 1000 times!!!!

i am just gonna have 2 smile all schweet & innocent when i get 2 the airport & hope they let me take them on board WITH me....

thanks again 4 not FREAKING me out with HORROR stories of bags going walk-abouts.... although i have heard a few already 8O & i've wanted 2 spew again....

i'm sure i heard this before

A dj was so pissed off at them losing his record bag in checked luggage that he started booking 2 seats - 1 for him, 1 for the tunes!

not sure who but i think it was Sasha

genious :D

The other tip is to put it thru on cargo. As it's normally cheaper than putting it thru as excess. Sometimes you can get away with putting thru hand luggage, other times you can't. I tend to stick a bloody great big padlock on mine and put it in with the baggage but keep my fingers crossed on the way there and at the baggage reclaim.

On some airlines, you can ask to get it put in the 'fragile' hold, with the golfclubs and guitars and such.. won't stop anyone nicking it off the conveyor belt though, I suppose.

:D best thing is to have a plan 'B' in case they wont let u take ur bag with you.

i agree best thing is big padlock and a prayer!

how's about a disguise if it needs to go in the hold....
---any ideas?? ............ bag full of old garlic smelling socks mayb??

:D

I took my laptop last year with over 5,000 choons!!! Took it hand luggage although the complete laptop bag was inside a conventional backpack with mike & heaphones. Travelled all over Ibiza with it on my back (not all the time), no one knew. :)

Been using Visiosonics PCDJ Red & Blue (Pro & Club Edition respectively) with Numark DMC-01 (now obsolete and superceded with the DAC-2 Controller) for the last 2 years. I also have the new PCDJ FX which I'm not currently using because of a software problem. A new update is due out in the next coupla weeks with a new audio decoder engine which should solve the problem. They have also introduced a scratch system plugin this month which enables you to use special coded discs with conventional turntables to give the same tactile feel as using vinyl, but, with mp3's.

Check 'em out;

It is indeed a lovely part of the world. I'm just 15 miles from Hexham. Never been to Shindig , nearly went last night as Harry 'Choo Choo' Romero was on and I was hanging out with him & his company in Pacha, Ibiza last Sept. Am always DJing Friday & Saturday nights, so, rarely ever get to see anybody, apart from visiting Ibiza of 'course. :D

Yeah I just whinged everytime I flew to and from Ibiza in the summer. On some occasions they stuck 'em at the front or back of the plane, one time the guy just toldme to take my headphones out and it'd fit in the overhead locker...

I understand your worry though, there's no way I'd be putting my tunes in with normal luggage
