Any ideas? OK you have (1) passport, (1) boarding pass, (1) clear plastic bag, (1) pair of sunglasses and (10) hours on a plane to London...go!

ha ha! yes I'm wondering what I'm going to do on my long flight too! :?... just hope you're sitting next to someone interesting. I think you can still bring magazines and a book.

i remember last year this time, Air Canada PROMISED that each seat on a transatlantic flight would be (by 2005) fitted with a personal TV and movie choice... ha ha Air Canada improve things?!?!! fat chance!

Anything you buy in Duty Free once you've been thru Security is allowed on the plane so you're fine to buy books, magazines etc for the journey then.

Ya, or pick yourself up a pocket computer or PSP or something at the electronics shop

Actually, from what I've heard, you can take hand baggage on board now just not with any liquids or, as before, sharp objects. At least, that's the reports I've seen coming out of N. America.

I'm not sure about the flight back from London as I've yet to read of the UK relaxing their procedures. I've got a long flight out of London on Saturday (heading out your direction, Hilinr) so I'm a bit worried about that...

According to the news this morning from tomorrow you will be able to take a small piece of hand luggage on with you.

Curiosity piqued, I was just looking that up myself. According to BBC, several UK airports are already allowing bags and the London airports start, as Scoobs noted, tomorrow.

BBC said:
At those airports where hand luggage can be taken on board, the dimensions of the item must not exceed a maximum length of 45cm, width of 35cm and depth of 16cm (17.7"x13.7"x6.2" approx) including wheels, handles, side pockets, etc.
BBC said:
All laptops and large electrical items (eg large hairdryer) must be removed from the bag and placed in a tray so that such items neither obscure nor are obscured by the bag.
Liquids still banned, including those purchased after security check (in duty free) so there goes the idea of bringing that liter of vodka onboard
