TRANSIENT; SPRING CHICKENS AND WHIPPER SNAPPERS
With the scent of bluebells wafting in the air, the sight of little lambs frolicking in the fields and the chocolate from our Easter eggs still sweet on our lips, we welcome a still wet behind the ears DJ into the TRANSIENT fold, as musical wunderkind Burnski joins us for April's fiesta.
And a disco ‘kind’ he is; by 16 he was a regular clubber, out at Middlesbrough’s Empire nightclub every Friday, producing his own music at 17 and at just 20 years of age was booked to play the Leeds institution that is Back to Basics, becoming the youngest guest ever booked to play their main room. And clearly he made a very good job of it too. His eclectic sets taking in everything from jazz to techno captured the hearts of the Basics crowd and less than a year later he was asked to step into Paul Woolford’s shoes, becoming their new resident.
And it’s not just his prowess behind the decks that’s knocking people’s socks off; his productions are pretty nifty too. With 14 releases under his belt since 2005’s ‘Coldcut’ came out on Trapez, he has certainly been a busy boy. His tracks on the Swiss imprint Morris Audio have placed him alongside artists such as Efdemin and John Dahlback and demonstrate why his bookings take him all over Europe, having played gigs at Watergate, Sankeys and the TDK Festival to name just a few. 2008 seems set to be no less prolific for the lad, as his latest single ‘Monkey Hanging’ is already out on new London label BOE recordings and getting props from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Oliver Huntemann and Nic Fanciulli.
And so now it’s our turn to be bowled over by this young whipper snapper, for a celebration of all things fresh at one of his first London dates of the year. So join us and our residents Ad Jones and Dan Kinasz in welcoming Burnski to TRANSIENT.
