Just been reading an article through this site that tourism helped put Ibiza at the top of the spending league last year compared to it's sister islands Majorca & Menorca. Hard'ly surprising when one considers how much it costs whilst staying on the island as i found that the restaurants & bars were quite expensive compared to the other two Spanish islands i've visited. Also take into account the number of young people that go to Ibiza for club nightlife etc, then it's not difficult to understand where all or part of Ibiza's new found wealth has come from.
