Names that come to mind are...

Laurent Garnier
David Rodigan
Sven Vath
Adam Beyer
Carl Craig
Jeff Mills
Sasha
Mr C
Dj Hype
Eddie Richards
Cut Chemist
Qbert

Carl Cox should be on the list surely?
I was thinking that too... and some of the names Marc posted.

At first, it seemed like a list of some of the old school pioneers who maybe don't get the headlines but still play out often enough and are definitely worth a listen.

But then half the names are people who still get plenty of attention and headline big events on a regular basis.

So, not quite sure of the point. Nevertheless, a list of good DJs.

wouldn't really argue with any of the names on the list, but people such as carl cox, vath, mills, frankie knuckles, i would make a strong case for including over maybe people such as dj shadow / a guy called gerald.

In my opinion...

Carl Cox
Laurent Garnier
Carl Craig
Robert Hood
Mr C
Andrew Weatherall
Hell
Francois K
Ben Sims
Slam
Sasha
Josh Wink
Richie Hawtin

Actually ... there are a whole bunch of them still well worth the $ when you think about it ! Not all older DJs have done a Sinclair / Tiesto / Fatboy Slim / Judge Jules descent into mediocrity (tho' with some former big-hitters it's arguable in fairness whether they were ever worth the $)...

Agree with most of the posts (except Carl Craig - one chap who always seems to actually irritate me when he gets in the DJ booth). It's elevating not to see Pete Tong's name plastered everywhere for once ;) .. he has his moments tho' - now and again to be fair to him.

One huge omission - John Digweed. One of the hardest working and most consistent DJs out there. Eternally damned to be undervalued by his peers, a bit like someone who joined a firm as a tea boy and rose to Senior Management :!: Saw him 3 times this Summer. Every time he delivered 100%.

I was a big fan of John Digweed back in the Hacienda days. A lot more talented than many of his bigger name compatriots.
