Did anyone see todays sun talking about possible line ups for 'Ibiza Rocks' at Privilege this summer?

Does anyone have any more information on this or know when any official line up will be anounched?

Only lineup I've seen confirmed so far is Jaques le Cont and Zane Lowe for the Manumissions 11th birthday party with Ibiza Rocks (???? Why not have Manumissions birthday party at a Manumission???) on Friday 5th August.

Lots of other names being banded about but nothing confirmed as yet.

I know hardly gona get the dance community on its side with statements like that!

Dont know bout anyone else but the line up hardly makes u want to go and i quiet like indie music as well!

Was expecting more cross over acts which combine the two

then I think your best bet will be regular Manumission on Mondays with residents Fischerspooner and guests.

billed as house meets rock meets electro :?:

Found sumthing on nme.com that shows a line up

The following dates have been confirmed, with more expected to be announced soon:

Babyshambles (July 4)
Zane Lowe presents Maximo Park (22)
Mylo (5)
Kaiser Chiefs (Sep 2)
The Bravery with Zane Lowe (9)

Trust mylo to be playing week after am there!

Babyshambles in Ibiza, sorry but i dont c what the point is. Maybe I'm being very closed to all types of music but rock music and ibiza just dont seem to blend well, i could be wrong

I disagree. Ibiza should be about celebrating diversity and I'm personally glad about the emergence of nights providing more than just anonymous, bog standard "funky house".

It's good that a big club like Manumission are trying something different. They'd pull the crowds in whatever was played, but last year I finally decided to give it ago when they booked Optimo and loved it. I certainly wouldn't have gone otherwise and now I'll definitely return.

hmm... maybe that's what all those trance nights are about

Live music and Ibiza can certainly co-exist, but I'd prefer to see dance-oriented acts (Faithless comes to mind, or maybe Chemical Brothers or Prodigy or something like that) than go to a rock show.

Agree entirely, how amazing would the chems be in a full up privilege? :D 8) 8)

Apart from whether we think bands like babyshambles/bravery are right for Ibiza, I wonder if there is enough of a market for that kind of act?

not true:

ok, maybe not entirely

but there are lots of rumoured names that havent been confirmed, franz ferdinand, basement jaxx, the chems, texas, 2 many dj's.

Zane Lowe is a dj and Mylo live is electronic music. The Babyshambles date is a Monday, so not Ibiza rocks anyway.

Which leaves confirmed bands for 'Ibiza Rocks' as Kaiser Chiefs, Bravery and a little geordie band.

One year wonder? The alternative music works well in the side rooms but 8000 + people going on Fridays for this like Manumission.

I agree that there should be far more live sets in Ibiza.

(But please, no Faithless!)

  I've got part of a video of Faithless live @ Privilege on my home pc and I would've loved to have been there for that!

I think it was MTV 99 or something like that but it went off!

And i think i'll be buying their greatest hits album, just cos it's one that needs to be in the collection!

I was at Privelege for the MTV party with Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Planet Funk, Todd Terry and Carl Cox.

Let me tell you it was the nuts!

It was 2001 aswell boyo, and ive got the video too!
Watching the singer from Planet Funk sing Chase the Sun still sends shivers!! she was hot hot hot!

but faithless were very good that night...
and todd terry is pure genius...
