Previous to my time in Ibiza for this years closing parties i had spent 2 days in Southport where it was a very pleasant 25 degrees, making it a great way to kickoff the Ibiza festivities.

Unfortunately i was going to be traveling alone but BIG thanks to Kimajy for arranging to meet up and hello to McRackin and Sophie_VIP who i also meet along the way.

Saturday

I had got an early taxi from Southport to Manchester Airport where i was catching the 06:55 flight, getting me to Ibiza at around 10:30 on the Saturday morning. It was already warm. Very warm!!

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150343847654432

I'd had a few too many on the Friday night and the flight was quite bad so i decided to just get a taxi to San Antonio so i could check in at Tarba Hostel and get an hour or so to chill before heading out to watch the Merseyside derby. Not only did we ( Liverpool ) win but i also won £100 on a Liverpool/Man U double so the holiday was off to a great start!!

I spent the rest of the day just wandering about San Antonio, taking it all in and opted for a few quiet drinks and food in the bar at Tarba where i ended up being coaxed into singing "Yo soy espanol" because i was wearing an Adidas top of the Spanish national side. It was a funny end to my first day....

Sunday/Monday

Up at around lunchtime and out into the sun for a few drinks down by Cafe Mambo. I wasn't feeling flush so it was a few tins of San Miguel from Eroski instead of actual drinks from Mambo.

I met with Kimajy and we drove to Pikes to meet up with McRackin and delve, head first into what can only be described as the biggest Sunday roast i've ever seen!!!!!!

I was actually expecting a bill of around 100 euro, seeing as it was the famous Pikes and, especially since food which could feed a small country had arrived on the table. In reality, the bill was far, far less than i thought which was a bonus!!!

We then made the decision to hit Tulp for some mojitos and the sunset after deciding that by the time we got to Sunset Ashram the sun would be down. So, we arrived at Tulp and guess what?? The sun was down..

Not to worry, the mojitos were going down just fine.

At this point we left McRackin and got a quick carry-out in the West End and made the trip down to Blue Marlin where Robert Owens, Kerri Chandler and some local guys were playing at the closing party. This is when it all starts to get a bit hazy for me ( Kimajy will testify that it was pretty much all downhill for me at this point  )... I'm still not sure if we managed to hear either Owens or Chandler but whoever they were... they were ****ing good!!! It was actually my first time in Blue Marlin and it didn't disappoint.

We decided to leave Blue Marlin at around 02:30 and it took a bewildering 2hrs or so to get to Space. I'm still not sure whether we went via Majorca or whether it was just a very, very slow journey...

On arrival at Playa D'en Bossa the music could be heard coming from Space. A few more drinks were had before heading into Space and somehow i managed to get in despite the doorman waving his hands in front of my face to get a response to see if i was ok, whilst i just stared blankly at him, not even seeing what he was doing.

Once inside Space apparently we checked out the main room although i don't remember. Heading back upstairs and into the terrace for the start of the Carl Cox set at around 07:00 snapped me out of dreamland and into reality with a bang!! This was the best music i had heard in a long time!! Carl Cox was on fire!!! The terrace was on fire!!! Every single person was up for it!! Even the VIP areas all around the room were up for it!! No posing from anyone!!

The sun was beaming in through every window and Carl was firing out the classics... Age Of Love, Plastic Dreams etc etc..

I ended up in such a state i think i might have given my iPhone to someone who is in the first photo standing beside me but i blame myself for lacking any sense at that time of the morning....

Cox finished at around 12:20 or so and Kimajy, Sophie_VIP, her partner and myself all piled out into the blistering hot lunchtime weather with the other couple of thousand people.

Some of us went to Nassau Beach Club where i tried and failed to eat a fruit platter. I was driven back to San Antonio ( stopping several times on the way so i could get out of the car and keel over in a ball by the side of the road  ). The plan was to get a few hours sleep and meet up with the rest for DC-10 but i fell asleep on my floor and the next thing i knew, it was Tuesday!!! I'd missed DC-10!! Not so sad about this after hearing the reports as i knew i wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes.

Tuesday

On Tuesday i dragged myself out of my room, got a fruit platter at a place by the harbour and took a massive dander all over San Antonio to freshen up....

Wednesday

I had my rental bike delivered at 09:00 and was out on my way down the south-west coast to Es Vedra and an amazing lunch at Es Boldado.

It was 31 degrees on the Wednesday but i still managed to drag myself and the bike up to the watchtower at Es Vedra for some breathtaking views!!

Arrived back in San Antonio at around 19:00, got some food and had to go on facebook to get someone to ring and block my phone. Had an early night after that.

Thursday

Up early again and out on the bike in the same kind of blistering hot temperatures that there had been all week. Today i cycled to Sant Rafael, then up past the Hippodrome to St Eulalia and onwards to St Gertrudis, Sant Miquel, Sant Joan and finally arriving at Benirras where i got lost and ended up climbing the wrong path and dragging myself and the bike up a steep 45 degree hill, through rocks and bushes before ending up on the wrong side of a fence in private property.

After making back to the road i made my way back to San Antonio via Sant Agnes and San Mateu. Once in San Antonio i could some really cool pictures and videos of the sunset.

For a later dinner i went to the Curry Club where i was beaten by the Lamb Madras...

Back to Tarba and once again sleeping on top of the sheets with the balcony doors open as it was still around 24/25 degrees at night!!!

Friday

I woke up to find that i'd had a slow puncture the day before!! I was glad that it only went down when i got back and not in the middle of nowhere as i'd no phone... Not to worry, i'd a spare tube!! So i blew it up with the pump.. quite literally!! I pumped it so much the tube blew up in my face!! So the bike was out of the question!! I thought i would just spend the day at the beach but i bumped into an English guy who was staying at Tarba who said i should try to get a quad... So i did!! what a brilliant day Friday turned out to be!!!! I sped about all over the island....

From the west to the east coast...

from the most southernly point of the island...

294531_10150352756294432_552609431_8192802_1118879704_n.jpg

To the most northernly point up at Portinatx...

308022_10150352772159432_552609431_8192983_1713722217_n.jpg

Is it legal to be doing 89 km/h on the motorway whilst wearing t-shirt, shorts and helmut??

I'm so glad i finally got to see the north of the island!! In my view it's definitely the nicest area to see!!! Although it was sad to see all the scorched mountain areas from the recent fires. :(

I sped back to San Antonio and caught some of the most spectacular sunsets i've ever seen!!!

298836_10150352772569432_552609431_8192986_180758586_n.jpg

:eek::eek:

On Friday night i made a second attempt at the Curry Club and succeeded this time!! :D

Saturday

It was a cloudy morning so i waited for the guy to collect the bike before heading out on the quad again for another hour before i had to leave it back. I took it up to the Santa Ines valley and back again.

Checked out, took a taxi to the airport and by this stage it had started to rain!!

I must be a lucky weather magnet for Ibiza as when i arrive any time it's roasting but the day i leave it takes a turn for the worst!! Maybe someone should just be me a property in Ibiza and me and the great weather will stay all year round!!!:p

The flight back into Liverpool took 3hrs and it was full to capacity but i was lucky enough to get the emergency exit window seat with the extra legroom... I got myself a few tins of Heineken. On arrival i was desperate for the toilet despite having just gone 15 mins before landing... I thought i would make it past Passport Control and then find a toilet!! At this point i would like to point out that whoever is in charge of UK Passport Control in Liverpool airport needs to have a serious look at the state of the queue problems!!

The queue started on the runway and weaved it's way back and forward 3 or 4 time until it reached the door!! There was no way i was going to make it to the door so i begged the staff to let me use a staff toilet somewhere but they refused!!!!
It took nearly 30 mins before reaching the actual door to the building at which point i thought "i'll be able to go in a few minutes".... but no!!! The queue then had to weave back and forwards another 5 or 6 times before getting to the front!!! A woman in the queue asked if i was ok...
At this point i was close to keeling over with the pain and seconds from just pissing myself in the queue!! Another staff member walked by and i told them that i needed to go NOW.. I was in pain and i couldn't wait ANY longer!!! He went off to check at which point i had to unfortunately run round the corner into an empty corridor and just go there... Subjected to having to do that because they wouldn't let me use their precious toilet!!

Disgusting treatment!!!!

I had a 3hr wait in the airport before catching my last flight home and i was home by 21:00.

8.5/10 for the trip!!! It would have been 10/10 if it wasn't for missing DC-10, the disappearance of my iPhone and Liverpool Airport.

Puerto San Miguel ?

:lol::lol: no probs..

but i'm confused now..... is the villa not actually at Cala Sant Vincent?? :?:)

Really good review.

When I read about the Carl Cox classics moment it sent me into a goosebumpy shiver. That set must have felt like Space pre time restrictions. I much prefer Coxy doing those type of sets, that is one party that I wish I had been to.

I always like it how reviews contain photos of food. :)

Nice that you met up with likeminded folk aswell.

We had the same queue at Manchester in Sept. The only comforting thought is that they are not just letting any f&*%er in! I blame the coalition.

How many miles/km do you think that you cycled?

the last 2hrs of Carl Cox's set are on that Mixcloud link in my review... 8)

when i listened to it again last night i remember at the point that he was playing the track after Moby "Go", i was looked around the terrace... the sun was coming in.. the Co2 cannons were all going off all over the terrace... brilliant feeling!! at that point i just knew something very special was coming to an end!!

cycling... well, the day before i arrived i cycled about 50 miles ( from southport to preston and back ) on this....

311908_10150341417624432_552609431_8130661_1056836544_n.jpg

tough going for doing it in 25 degree temperatures as it's not the easiest thing to cycle...

in Ibiza, it's hard to say.. mayber another 40/50 miles over 2 days.... would have been more but i got the quad on the 3rd day...

Ive been doin a bit of cycling myself over the summer. Only done about 25miles each time max but not really pushed it.

If I cycled from Warrington to Southport, do you think it would be downhill on the way back???:D

I gonna listen to that set of Coxys to cheer me up before work.

don't know about warrington/southport. i'm from belfast..

one thing that's annoying me about not getting any videos of carl cox on the terrace is that there doesn't seem to be any online from last monday morning.... at all!!! anywhere!!

surely someone must have a got a good video?!?!?! :(

Brilliant pics, vids and review Ric - you really tore up the island on that Quad :) .. Isla de Sa Ferradura (S'illa des Bosc) is indeed just round the corner from Port St Miquel and not Cala St Vincent - tho' I'm not surprised some of it may have got muddled up the amount you did and saw !!!

Did you download some stuff before you and the iphone were parted :)lol:) ?

PS - I know re Cap Bernat (Benirras) ... can you see now why I wanted someone to come along on a pedalo to retrieve me if it all went t!ts up ? !!!

Good Review! Did you fly out on your own and meet up with a few off here?

What camera did you use for them pictures?

Aha - that explains re the pics !! Glad someone posted a vid of that Age of Love drop - my best moment of the morning !!

i was looking at the Benirras thing... is it even possible to get up it?!?! you wouldn't get me trying it...

Well, not after a morning at Space anyhow  ... Seriously - take a read .. http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=40014

Nostrum did it years ago with a mate. Links to video proof on post 48 too  - apparently there's a rope to help you start up it from the water then presumably it's a free climb up the rest (trying not to look down !) hopefully with some holds here & there. I am reassured that he reports 2/3 of the way up it is about 12m which would definitely do me for a take-off spot.

Did a 42ft jump with a free climb up without too much wetsuit browning in the Spring in Cornwall. Was thrilling enough & about comparable height, so (in theory) should be OK with Bernat. Tempted to do some more locally now - it's not as terrifying as you think it's going to be, honest :!: .. but thrilling enough to be a special and very memorable thing to do. Our local 'Tombstone' is 65ft and needs abseiling down to, enough to hit the water at a ball-busting 44mph ... but it's no Benirras !!

the thing that put me off is the amount of jellyfish that there seem to be according to his review... i wouldn't fancy diving into a herd of jellyfish..:eek:
