Tips for good quality local food shops

Hey all.

My partner and I are spending 3 months in Ibiza this year (perks of working from home). Arrived a few days and slowly getting settled in.

It's fair to say that this year more than ever we feel strongly compelled to support local businesses, and we would highly recommend any tips for good vegetable markets, butchers, fishmongers/markets, etc. Ideally selling locally produced or caught products, but recognise that a lot of food are imported given we are on a small island!

Thank you for any tips you might have!

It might pay you to say which area you are living in ?

absolutely!

but anyway...here are some places I'd recommend:

generally: mercado nuevo in ibiza town (meat, fish, veggies)
butcher: can ros in can bellotera
veggies: la choza in sta gertrudis, then the shack on the back road between playa d'en bossa and figueretas and on saturdays the market in forada (next to can tixedo tapas bar)

Thanks! We are not far from Eivissa, but willing to drive nearly anywhere on the island if it’s for a good market or food store (It’s a good opportunity to visit new places!)

I had a beautiful seafood platter there in about 2010. Shrimp, oysters, wow. It was almost as good as my mother Maree's cooking!
