Tourist Figures
The six months of the tourist season this year, from the 1st of May until the 31st of October, produced the highest occupancy figures since 2004, according to statistics published earlier this week. Overall figures were up on the previous year by 10.5 per cent, with all municipalities recording improvements.
Average occupancy over the six month period hit 78 per cent, considerably higher than the 70.6 per cent registered last year. A large proportion of this increase came from the excellent results in October, which was 16.4 per cent higher than in 2010. It was the north of the island, Playa de San Miguel, Portinatx and sa Cala de San Vicente, which had the highest occupancy during this last month, with more than 80 per cent of available beds having been filled.

The tide is turning. We hear a lot about Ushuaia and what's being done in PDB being good for Ibiza. The higher occupancy rates reported in October (especially in the North) are what I would call good for Ibiza.

Helping local people employed in the sector to stay in work for another month is a very important thing for them and their families !

I will be helping the local economy again next October with another trip with my daughter already booked in. I will be taking my dear old Mother this time so I can sneak off and try to find some late season action.

What a good idea - win, win ! Seems week after closings and Halloween time are pretty good options ...
