THIS MAKES ME SAD!

Well, at least they'll be doing something other than sitting in the pub drinking all day.

i played on that pitch!!

a few years back we could only get an 18-30 - my sole concession to their nonsense was to trot to the footie tournament

BTW drew 1-1 and won 2-0 with yours truly getting both in the second game, the first a curling shot worthy of Beckham! :D :D

Snobbery abounds as ever. I've played football during a clubbing holiday in Ibiza and I'm neither a beer boy nor a lout. I've seen people on this board post that they 'work out' in Ibiza and that didn't make anyone sad.

Perhaps the young, sporty types involved will think us sad for our unhealthy indulgences and our obsession with music. But we don't mind because we're right and they're wrong, eh?

It's nothing to do with snobbery...

I think we can all see the type of holiday this company are touting, and IMO it represents everything that is wrong with Brits abroad - i.e. fighting and puking up all over the 'West End'.

I'm not alone in my thoughts, Iberians and Brits largely feel the same.

*Holds up hands*

Have to admit the schoolboy like error of failing to read the comprehension piece before answering the question. I assumed your problem was that they were playing footy in our paradise, but having read the blurb I see that is not the case.

Apologies for my snapiness!

Still think there's a place for West End shenanigans though - as I've posted before I know plenty of people who graduated from San An to Ibiza Town over a couple of years. Part of the joy of Ibiza is new people discovering it - some just visit the island a couple of times before that happens. (IMO ;) )

....is this not exactly why a lot of people stay away from the West End??!

It's not possible for everyone travelling to the one place to have the same expectations and plans, people like to spend their time in different ways, I don't really think it is fair to judge.... :?

It's not fair to judge...

But we are judged!

Iberians put us all in the same boat.

As do Brits at work, at home etc. when you tell them where you go on holiday...

It feels like you constantly have to explain to people your not like that, your not sick on the street, don't shag in alleys and dont beat people up when you've had more drink than you can handle.

I do know what you mean.....the first time I went to Ibiza I really didn't know what to expect, it was a huge eye opener!! :D

After being to quite a few Spanish resorts, I realise you get beer boys everywhere you go, in some shape or form - there's no escaping it! Yes there certainly are a few people who ruin the atmosphere in Ibiza, and that combined with the clubs makes it look like that from the outside. But hey, you have to sympathise with these people because they will never know the real Ibiza, and that makes me very sad!! :P

You don't need to visit a resort, they are everywhere in the country. Of course there are hundreds of nice, polite brits who come to Spain but, it's a shame, the ones we notice are the beers boys.

I totally understand i get a constant ripping from my boss (who buy the way is a cool guy who i think would love ibiza) saying that it is full of dirty brittsh people who are sick everywhere.

i just wish there was a good documentary you could take to show these people to try make them understand a bit more.

It doesn't bother me about the general perception of Ibiza as a hell hole full of drunken arseholes. As the West end - in the large part - still is.
As the West end - in the large part - still is.

I go , I like, I love.

If people don't realise what the island has to offer - tough shit.

And more room at the bar / beach / etc. 8)

Exactly!!! :P

This makes me sad

I'm a brit living in IBIZA and must say that at some point every year I'm ashamed to be british. But as a local from the island pointed out that when he had his first visit to england earlier this year ,and that brits were terrific but the only people he saw that disgusted him were spaniards that made us both realise that all nations have them!!!!!!!!!!
Pity we have more than most though!!!
