We have some candy in small boxes called "spunk" - and a few years ago a british friend of mine came to Denmark where I live and when he saw the boxes in the stores he started laughing rediculously - I was clueless until he told me the UK meaning of Spunk.

Imagine going up to someone offering them some spunk in the UK :) 8O :D !!

ANYONE GOT ANY OTHER WEIRD COINCIDENSES LIKE THIS ONE?

'Fanny'

in the States means (bum) but here in the UK its a common phrase for a female (front) bum

Some very astute people put up a sign in Latvia when George Bush visited in May that said something like: George! Peace, Duke! The Washington Post even printed a photo of that and another welcome sign to accompany a story on his visit.

Only thing is, "peace duke" sounds a lot like "pizduk", which in Russian is a slang term for the female anatomy. In other words, they insulted Bush and not only got away with it, but got it in the US newspapers

If we're talking US vs. UK English, there's "fag". In the US, that means gay person. In the UK, it's a cigarette.

Also, there's a clotheswashing powder made somewhere in the middle east that sells in the former USSR called "Barf". In the US, barf meens to vomit

Restroom, same as Toilet. That's another word that throws off quite a few Europeans.

The line is busy (US). The phone is engaged (UK).
