dont wanna sound like an alarmist here, but im sure no-one needs reminding of the current "climate" we live in and the determination of certain individuals to stop us going about our daily lives in safety, and in the wake of recent events in madrid etc, im sure u all know what i mean!! i do wonder sometimes about ibiza?? again i dont wanna start a big debate on the subject or panic anyone, was just after thoughts, cos it has crossed my mind!! p.s gurus sorry if im out of order asking this!!

i dont think ibiza is going to be a target for terrorism at all - there are far better targets than little ibiza , so i dont think anything to worry about.

Keep Safe ;)

This issue has been discussed often in the last months. Use the search option and you'll find some treats about terrorism in Ibiza.
Islamist terrorism only hitted once and that was in Madrid :(
Basc terrorism hitted touristic ressorts in the past seasons but always inland. Probalby they will do it again in the future, who knows.

Don't panic. If they bomb any objective on the island they wouldn't find a way to run away

Hi, Im from madrid, forget it, Ibiza NEVER was a target for terrorism. Its a safe plade. ANd Madrid its a safe place too.

i would not be alarmed going to ibiza. id feel safer in ibiza than i would visiting a firend who lives at canary warf london.

You would have said the same thing about Bali!!!
Anyway, Im of the opinion that if you worry about these things, you will never go anywhere. You could make a point for everywhere in the world being a possible target.
Im also a believer of if its your time, its your time and there is nothing you can really do about it.

Go and enjoy yourself....dont let the terrorists win.

im not worried, and i agree that if u do worry then u will never go anywhere, do anything etc and that means that they have won!! i will be in ibiza this yr as i have many years before, and will continue to do so for as long as i can still dance!! was just something that crossed my mind and i wondered if others had thought the same!!

rave safely kids!!!

think about it, spain have pulled their troops out of iraq or are in the process of doing so and did bin laden or someone like that not say to cease attacks against spanish interests because of this?
i think it is unlikely.

I agree, it is very very unlikely that Ibiza would be a target, especially now that the spanish are on the way out of Iraq and I for one certainly won't let it ruin my holiday. HOWEVER put yourself in bin ladens shoes, their main missions in their attacks are mass loss of life for all alliance supporting nations. Correct me if I'm wrong but Privellage on a Monday night would be a good target as it has 10000 people mainly from spain, italy, the USA and the UK in a relatively small area all at the same time. I think Ibiza could well be a good target if it was just easier for them to get to. Just a thought.

Neither was Indonesia but the club in Bali was targeted because there was a lot of Australians there. That's the point kn1980 was making I think, and I think it's a valid one.
It won't put me off going though.

As history presents itself, Mr. bin Laden has not struck twice in the same country and I don't think he will. It looks like he preys on unsuspecting countries. As soon as he hits in a an unsuspecting country that country's security is more likely to increase. Hence why travelling through the USA, Indonesia, and Spain is more pain staking at the airports and rail barns. Increased world security is on an increase, but in those countries that have been hit, the security has increased ten fold since each individual attack. Wait till Canada or Britain is hit. You will see our security increase as well, thus making it harder for terrorist activites to happen. I am a little parnoid about the basc liberation movement though.

There's people on here who know a lot more about it than me, but the way I see it, ETA would never cause the mass loss of life that Al Queda try as their struggle is with the Spanish government, not the people where as Al Queda see any westerner as a legitimate target.
We saw how quickly ETA came out and denied being connected with the Madrid bombings because of the public outrage it caused.

The horrible bombing case in a club in Bali is totally unlikely to happen again on Ibiza. Bali is an Indonesian island. Indonesia is a muslim country that has very fanatic factions. So the terrorists of Bali thought they were able to put the bomb in the club and then hide among the local people, hence, much harder to find the responsibles.

In Ibiza they would be caught easily as it's a small island and it's not a muslim island. Muslims on there are very few immigrants.

Moreover, the habit at many clubs to look if you aren't carrying any cam would help actually.

Plus those fanatics with their explosive belts couldn't sneak themselves into a club without being suspicious, as we all use to bring very light clothes while in Ibiza.

Of all the Islands and resorts in Spain I would really doubt it if they chose Ibiza which is the smallest of them all! :P I think that a risk is taken travelling everywhere and anywhere, or even staying at home! You cannot worry about these things, life's too short!! ;)

Very unlikely in Ibiza as the crowd is from all over the world and Spain did help for peace in the middle east, remember the Madrid meetings prior to the Oslo agreement.
