The Revolution @ Space, Aug 2

Now, I am a huge dance music fan, and and pretty familiar with most names in the industry, so being on the island for the first time serves a couple of purposes for me, not only do I want to experience the magic of the island and the great clubs, but I also have a list of djs/producers that I want to see. Well, Carl Cox was not on my list, but, having asked around when i got to the island and just talking with random people, I quickly learned that The revolution was a big night on the island, and was highly recomended.

So I start the night of by meeting up with a fellow spotlight member, we meet at Cafe Del Mar, not a problem for me as I did have it on my list of places to go. I get there early and end up talking up a storm with an Argentinian girl. I could have stayed there all night, almost exact music preference as me and we hit it off right away. She states she is going to Pacha and leaving the next day, so we exchange info and part ways. As I am sitting there a guy comes up to me and asks me if I am Joseph, it is my meetup from here on spotlight. He was sitting at the bar the whole time I was chatting up. Said he didn't want to interupt my conversation.. Ok, well enough... So we decide to hit the west end up for a few pints before heading to Space...While at Cafe Del Mar, I ask a girl who was offering massages where I would be able to find certain party favors for the night. She tells me to talk to one of the Morrocans selling sunglasses. So upon our journey in the west end, I find what I am looking for. We then head to space, it is around 2am...We get there and wait in the q to get in. The q wasn't that bad, maybe 10 minutes to get in, which I don't mind, by then most people are well on their way to getting wasted and it entertaining to listen, watch, and interact with everyone around. We finally get in and the place is already jumping. We head into the main room, and Umek is just finishing, I am a bit dissappointed because I did want to hear more of the set, but no biggie. Now, I hadn't heard of Nicole Moudaber, but she comes on and is properly motivating the dance floor. I get a drink as does my spotlight buddy, he then proceeds to hit on a, well, homely girl to say the least, I can tell what his goal is tonight. I say peace and start dancing wherever I find room. Now, I am American, and my meetup from here is as well, but he is the kind of American who gives us a bad name in the industry, no worries buddy, I still love you...So I am gettinginto the vibe, my first time in Space and I now see why it is rated as one of the best clubs in the world, the lighting was great, lasers going wild, and the system sounds great. I am going nuts for a couple of hours. i go to get another drink and meet another fellow american. Go figure, we have a rather deep conversation about music, life and being in ibiza. we take some shots and have a hug. Another great moment in ibiza. I cannot explain how good it felt to be around so many like minded people, very uplifting. There is a large buzz in the atmoshpere and the main room is now packed, packed so much i could barely find an open place to dance at the very back of the main room. Cox is now on and is melting the dancefloor. Now I have seen him play many times before, but never did i hear it like I did like this night at Space. I decided to bounce over to the terrace because I also wanted to listen to Nic Fanciulli as well. I did my walk arounds in both rooms as i always do. And I must admit, the Terrace takes the cake as far as sound goes. Now at this point, i think the drinks and the party favors are in full effect. I could feel the music pulsating through my body and the vibe just elevated what was going on. So I am in the Terrace still doing my own thing, when this guy asks me if I am Italian, I say no, he says, super mario, super mario...i guess i look like super mario...being in a great mood, i do the super mario move like i just got a mushroom, he cracks up laughing, and off to the bar we go, free shots, can't pass it up...thanks buddy, whoever you are, much appreciated...I have a couple of smokes and back into the main room...Cox still tearing it up and by this point, my shirt is soaking wet from the dancing, I am sure though, that the alcohol and party favors have contributed as well though. I make it out of space around 6 something...i want to stay to the end but am properly worn out from the night. My first big night event at a major club. I was quite impressed and satisfied..this only being the second night i have been out...i knew the rest of the trip was gonna be nuts...Thanks Cox & Space..well worth it...

Caught Coxy a couple of weeks after you went. First time I've seen him live. Top, top night in Space. Absolutely rammed. House music seems to just get right into my veins...danced the whole night, although did prefer the deep tech house in the blue room. Had energy all night, danced from half 2 right through till the half 7 set end....on minimal drink and no party favors as you put it. Counting down to next year already, may have to mixup space with Kehakuma next year though as I hear that is another top night!!

Yes, I already have the countdown going as well...Kehakuma was good as well, a bit more of an underground kind of scene but was good...my next review here will be for that night...keep on the look out, is coming soon...

Keep 'em coming :) - Revolution @ Space gave me my best clubbing night for about 10 years in July with Digweed, Cox & Hawtin. Latter I must admit I bailed on Richie for Digweed in the Terrace which was awesome as so many people were in the Discoteca and he was on tip top form.

Cox anywhere else is just not the same. He blew the roof off. Danced myself into oblivion that night - not topped since & tempted to pop down tomorrow ... hmmmm ... decisions, decisions
