the problem with sunsets

After visiting the island for many years and still loving the sunsets, I am annoyed at the amount of idiots in boats that seem determined to ruin the view from the Cafe, particularly the 18-30 tour boats. if you are thinking of taking your boat out at that time of night, please spare a thought for all of us who have waited on the rocks for that special moment. rant over. Anyone else pissed of by this or am i turning into Victor Meldrew ?????

Is this the sort of vista you don`t like being spoiled?

I must agree, the manumission parascending boat made a nuisance:cry: of itself last time but this was nowhere near as annoying as cafe mambo/radio 1 belting out uptempo music right through the sunset last time I was there. (2004)
Hopefully radio 1 are not on the island this june/july they`re as welcome as jellyfish.

plenty of other "unspoiled by tourist" places along that coast if you want to watch the sunset - just dont go to the most popular hang out possible if you want an uninterrupted view...8)

or go to coastline and kanya and so on, as there they dont come that often - its especially outside CDM and Savannah they "port" and wave and shout to the people sitting atthe cafees just wanting them to shut up!! haha!

will be looking for new sunset places this year.

what about the more knowledgable doing a top 5 or something? Or does that put them at risk of being spoiled too? Where is the line between information and disinformation?!?

I couldn't agree with you more, it takes the fun out of it. I like going to PDB for sun rise you can have the beach to yourself or with 1 special person.;)

Can anyone suggest a lovely place to watch the sunset for me and my boyfriend.

We spent a few nights at Cafe Del Mar and Savannah last year, and Coastline for one evening.

But we are looking for a private (ish) place to enjoy the sunset together. Some directions would be great and pictures even better.

Thanks in advance spotlighters.

Although its not private I still love watching the sunset from Khumaras - you dont get boats, you dont get too many seals "clapping" its more "hippieish" and the entertainment after sunset is brilliant, however, if you want something private, in the past, we have driven as far past Port es Torrent as you can, and we have found a huge rocky outcrop which gives an uninterrupted view as the sun sets. Its wild, beautiful and practically private, we have sat there with an 'erbal cigarette, a bottle of cava and some padded seat covers and watched some of the most beautiful sunsets there. Another good choice is to drive to Es Vedra, book a table in the restaurant there and watch the sunset as a magnificent backdrop to a romantic meal.

Cala Gracio and beyond are also good areas to catch a sunset, also Cala Salada beach is nice too....8)

Thank you puppylover.. I have taken note of all those places.

I was fancying Khumaras last year but am unsure where it is...

Think we are planning on booking Es Boldado this year at Cala D'Hort for a romantic evening.. :-)

Thanks again for your help. Can't wait for July. :D

Kumharas is really easy to find to be honest, its on the main road through San An bay - get the bus from the port in San An to the Bay and get off at Cala Bou - attached a map for you.

Kumharas is fine for the sunset, but I expect that at some point it will be as packed as the strip. :?

I've seen some magical sunsets at Café del Mar but that was in low season, early may

But for me the best way to enjoy a sunset is going somewhere quieter and peacefull with your friends, a bear and a laughing cigarrete. You can't beat that, it's much more intense cos you are on your own with the sunset and the sea, if you know what I mean ;)

This is a sunset at Cap d'Es Falcó, there's a very nice bar there, but you can climb up a bit the hill and enjoy it on your own. I was literally eaten by moscats there tho

And this is from near Cala d'Hort, my very fav spot on the island and that was the best sunset I've ever seen

Makes no difference to me Silv - whenever I sit in a quiet unspoilt spot on Ibiza with my laughing cigarette and my bottle of Cava/or Corona I will always think about having a bear with me now to share the experience

I might even bring my old teddy bear from childhood with me now to Ibiza so that he can enjoy the sunset with me.....
