Detectives investigating Britain’s biggest ever cash robbery have arrested a third person in connection with the armed heist in which a gang escaped with up to £50 million.
A 41-year-old woman was held yesterday at a branch of the Portman building society in Bromley, South London. She has been taken to a police station in Kent for questioning on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
A report in the Daily Mirror said that a woman had been arrested after trying to open a building society account with bundles of cash.
Staff at the branch allegedly kept her talking as they called police after she pulled out around £6,000 in used notes that was bound with tape marked Tonbridge, the newspaper reported.
