Without boring you all with the ins and outs I'll give you the main highlights of the trip:
Arrived early hours Sunday morning met my mates who are out for the Season, they gave us a lift back to their apartment for a sesh, good to catch up etc.... stumbled out of there about 8am went to WIPS then back to Hotel (Hawaii).
Went back out Sunday afternoon and met up with some sound Welsh lads we met the year before. Unfortunately the excitement got the better of me and I ended up getting completely wasted, can't remember much and lost my brand new police glasses
Woke up Monday morning determined to go to DC10. Mrs G remembered I had left my glasses at Welsh mates flat and we rushed round to pick them up before they left to go home My mate then drove us to DC10. This was my first time at DC10 and all I can say is Wow........
This place is just the end of the earth. I loved it, difficult to explain, you must go. Full of the freakiest party people out there which makes it that bit special, atmos was top notch as were the tunes.... we left when my missus and mate found me cowering inside went back to mates for sesh onto WIPS then back to apartment.
Tuesday evening we set out to find Kumharas, we walked from Hawaii, almost gave up but finally found it. This place is awesome and has none of the commercialism of the strip, we watched the sunset then went to the restaraunt for a bite to eat. Was extremely impressed with the food. Highly reccomend the Lamb in a coconut crisp. Such a chilled place.
Wednesday evening went to Sa Capella. This place never fails to impress, the surroundings, atmosphere and cuisine are second to none, this has to be one of my favourite restaraunts anywhere. We were sat next to none other than Deep Dish & their entourage. Was tempted to ask for a photo with them and free passes as we were going to Yoshitoshi following night, but would have felt a twat interupting their meal so did not bother. Food was amazing as ever. Beef carpaccio for starter followed by suckling pig for main which was delightful if not different. Mrs G opted for a very nice tomato & Basil soup followed by Cod au Gratin which was equally excellent.
Thursday was Yoshitoshi. I would reccomend anyone go to this, it was one of the highlights of our trip. Real mash up of quality music. Deep Dish kept dropping hints of Flash Dance until eventually towards the end they dropped it in full, much to the delight of the excellent crowd. We met the nicest couple from Miami, and shared the bottle of vodka I had sneaked in with me with them much to their delight Have kept in touch with them and hope to see them soon.
Fast Forward to Sunday, We love..... arrived at about 3pm. It was actually quite quiet (as was the sound on the terrace) sat about inside for a bit (I love it inside during the day!!!) we were one of the few going for it on the dancefloor!!! Wento over to Bora Bora about 6pm had a bite to eat and a boogie, as we left Space Flash Dance was dropped so we were gutted, thankfully it was belted out over at Bora Bora Headed back to Space for around 8.30pm waited for Lawler to start at 9pm. However Smokin Jo came on to rapturous applause setting the place alight until Lawler came on and wrapped the terrace up into a blistering inferno, someone dropped (is it...?) New Order how does it feel/blue Monday which was greeted by many smiles and miming, Went inside just before midnight. Digweed absolutely destroyed the place and used the Funktions to their capacity, I had a good boogie on one of the podiums. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Met up with some mates who had been having canapes on the upstairs terrace and listened to about an hour of Zabiela who was rocking the place before heading back to meet mates in San An.
Monday Evening my mates had managed to get some dodgy workers passes and we managed to get into Cocoon for next to nothing. This was an intense experience..... there is nowhere to rest and it is constant booming.... but is that a bad thing I managed to get some video footage which I will try to upload in the not so distant, all in all quality.
Tuesday went to Il Vaticano, I wasn't feeling all too good and found the food far too rich although the missus thoroughly enjoyed it. I would warn anyone the food can be very rich so be warned.
Wednesday went to Zapatas for a bit of mexican. I'm surprised this is not advertised as much as Tijuana as I actually think it is better, had the usual carnage then onto the Ship around 5am for some pool, (as per many a previous night - don't you just love playing pool at 5/6am )
Thursday hired a motor boat out and took the missus and some friends to Cala Bassa, I would thouroughly recommend doing this 65euros for 3 hours, got stung by a small jelly fish but it was nowhere near as painful as I expected.
We went over to Ibiza Town in the evening to go to D'alt Vila for the first time. This was probably our best night. I was overawed with the beauty of the place, the atmosphere everything it was absolute magic. We had a good explore and a few drinks then went to La Ventana, as after viewing the many bustling restaraunts my missus had her heart set on the place. We were not dissapointed and this was definately on par with Sa Capella. I had foiu gras for the first time which was gorgeous, and the best steak (argentinian) I have had in a long time. The setting was wonderful and service excellent. I even let the missus have a dessert which was a first for the holiday!!
We were blagged by our mates to stay out late on our last full night (Friday) and went to the workers party at Savannah's funky lounge, got mashed, back to mates apartment, onto WIPS then strolled into hotel 9am to be told we were to be out of our room for 11.30am . Got up in a foul mood and lugged round to our lifesaver mates who allowed me and the missus to use their bed for the best part of 10 hours freshened up and sat down for some drinks to reflect on a stonking two weeks.
We met so many good friends and generally nice people, since getting back I have suffered severe depression. Bought back plenty of Hierbas as a reminder of our wonderful time. We are going to give Ibiza a miss next year as we have been the last 3 years solid, we will prob be going to Mexico next year and return the following year to which I am really looking forward to. I hope this review hasn't been too long and that people either enjoy it or benefit in some way.
All the best StevieG
