hmmm... theoretically, you could say that those whose familes were there upon the country's founding aren't immigrants, since you can't immigrate to a country that didn't exist yet. Perhaps migrants is a better termchewie_oo7 said:errr... correct me if im wrong, but technically all americans are immigrants! (except the native kind).

My ancestors also didn't immigrate... more likely they were kidnapped![]()
Tyc's point is that Powell was first-generation American.
And Tycoon, there's always been politics on the board... it's just mostly been football-related politics![]()

Jerseyboy, you say "Blind patriotism is pathetic..." but then you go on to spew out blind patriotism. You talk about living outside of harm's way since there are no machete wielding madmen in the U.S. - perhaps not. We don't need it - because we have a lot of machine gun wielding madmen wandering the streets of the good ol' US of A killing schoolchildren and other innocents. The U.S. is one of the most violent and dangerous places in the developed (sorry to use the word) world. If you look at crime rate and death by violent crime it is close to 1,000 times what it is in Western European countries.
You also talk about our great education - you, maybe great, I was raised, educated and got my college degrees in the US, but then explain why the US has the highest illiteracy rate in the 'developed' (sorry) world - it is even higher than Cuba's! And again, if our life is so good in the US, why is life expectancy much lower than other countries of comparable economic levels? And why does the US have a higher percentage of its population living under the poverty line than other countries of similar wealth? Those are the facts, Jerseyboy - you just need to dig them out since no news channel network likes to talk about that - they are too busy reporting on WMDs or a school yard massacre to examine the other very real side of America.
I recognize the beauty of the US and our people - there is more opportunity there (I love pointing out to critical Europeans that we have a black woman as foreign minister and prior a black man son of immigrants - nowhere else in a 'white' dominated country would you find that! And that a number of 'minorities' (sorry) hold positions of significant power in the US, politically or in business, such is not the case in most of Europe).
And finally, by saying that you don't care if others die (Arabs, Muslims) then you are absolutely no better than those you despise - as they do not care about whether you or other Americans die! Disgusting on both sides!
I am an American and for the most part very proud to be one. I agree totally with Morbyd - when you live abroad you see, you learn, you grow. And you understand that what you are taught to believe in the US is not always true. Hard to accept, yes, but nonetheless hard to ignore.
I love reading about our founding fathers, what they sought to achieve and what many have sought to preserve. The country of our founding fathers is not the one of today!

you're about as american as hitler, pol pot, or nero...you *beep* pansy. Stay in Europe, cuz if you come back, I'll gladly be wating with a vintage Nazi WW2 dagger to plunge into your jugular...you know...just to remind you of how your life would be without us.
"aww, he's so brash an irrelevant, and this is why we don't like americans...etc."
nobody here cares......not a soul
I love this argument, which if you recall, became fashionable a couple of years ago after the French did not want to go to war in the Iraq over weapons of mass destruction (which turned out to not exist!).jerseyboy78 said:this is why we love war...because we get to kick the shit out of you retards.....hey fags...where were your relatives when hitler and napolean were killing europe? now you talk? yeah, you talk, we act....or you'd all be speaking german.....you idealistic morons.
I think everyone else agrees here that you're the thick one. Tycoon and I are the only ones who give a shit because we'd hate to think that everyone back home has turned into you. We know it's not true (though perhaps you'd like to think it in your strange little Jersey world), but it's disconcerting nonetheless.why are you people so thick? you can't seem to grasp the fact that hate and greed aren't bad things.....they seperate the strong from the weak. Put down your "I'm a sissy" manual, and pick up "the art of war"...maybe..you'll learn something. I'm done with this thread, you mullett toting, pseudo americans.
