The FA..Joey Barton Shows his bum etc....!!

It's all the hypocracy that gets me. We all know that football crowds (including City's) can be pretty cruel with some of their chants. However, it's a man's game (eh Clara?? :) ) and if you can't stand the heat, you shouldn't be there. The Everton fans felt no compunction about picking on JB, but then suddenly became sensitive little things when he light heartedly gave a bit back. Are their fans such wilting violets that they need to tell the police? Are the police really so short of things to do on Merseyside that they can investigate this? The F A do nothing about a blatant dive in the Spurs game, that directly affected the result. Martin Jol fails to acknowledge it as cheating. Meanwhile, the F A can get really excited about the JB incident, and we all know they will probably hit him with a ban. Of course they have the right to do that, but they might want to think about their own credibility at a time when there are bigger issues that really ought to be the centre of their attention - bungs, diving, shirt pulling, feigning injury, imaginary card waving and England's failure to win anything sinc 1966. Might be nice if the authorities, both police and F A, focussed on things that do matter. Everton fans - grow up, think about the provocation and ask yourselves what happened to the self-proclaimed scouse sense of humour. You know, and we know, you were just frustrated because we had equalised. You really should just try to cope with it.

In all fairness tho it wasn't a very nice bum was it  ;)

Completely agree with you what a waste of FA time, resource and money

I think Joey Barton is a horrible little scally :x He's one of those people who you know if he wasn't lucky enough to have footballing talent, he'd be out there robbing cars, mugging people and generally being another toerag stastistic of Britain.

JJ I was at the game and yes he got a load of stick and when he bared his @rse most people thought it was quite funny and had a laugh about it. Most people that is with a bit of common sense to see , as you rightly say, he’d took a load of stick through the game and he was having a bit of banter back. The same people who really would like to see more of this interaction in football, which as you are aware is becoming more and more of an “us and them” thing between players and fans. Most blues that I know are a bit embarrassed that hes been reported for it. Fowler got a bit of stick a few years back for city and had a go back which was well received by most evertonians.
However in every crowd your gonna get some typical sky fan with nothing better to do than report him to a copper, rather than go for a post match drink, its not just an everton thing. I mean you cant tell me if Andy Johnson done the same at your place every city fan would just have a laugh about it, and he wouldn’t get reported?

Its just the way footy is these days.

P.S. I got told to “f*ck off yer blue B@stard” by harry kewell in an anfield derby a couple of seasons back and it made my day.

It's up on YouTube for those who missed it.

I do feel that everyone's going to treat Barton a lot harsher due to who he is and I doubt anyone would've bothered had it been someone else (with the exception of Ben Thatcher ;) ). It is funny but I suppose that the old farts at the FA have to be seen to be doing something. However, as someone on the radio commented yesterday, Robbie Williams does that sort of thing at his gigs which are full of children and nobody complains.

I love how he gives his shirt to a kid in a wheelchair beforehand, to show that he's really a good egg.

(Great equaliser from Richards too)

i've seen much much worse, and heard much much worse at football games.

the world is so political these days, so what if people get offended every now and then.

I see the incident but did not know it has gone this far

Well said - go on any Everton website and no ones gives a s**t about JB's arse - most of the posts are hillarious (typical scouse humour) and as NilSatis says - its the minority - you could hardly call scousers thin skinned when it comes to taking the piss - lets face it Everton have been "underdogs for years" they're used to piss taking...

I married one and have to suffer 6hrs of football reruns/match overviews when he gets back every other weekend - now that's painful!!!!

i was at the game as well (in the stand that Barton actually showed his ass to!) and NilSatis's point is the most intelligent thing that has been said about the situation. Yes, JB (as Becki says) is a scumbag and probably deserves all the abuse he gets (though the stuff about his brother was BAD) but if the fans are giving out the stick then they have to take back whatever comes their way. same in everything in life not just football, you give out stick you have to be prepared to take it back. I am a little embarressed that some fans have taken it to the police. 'Sky Fans' as Nilsatis said is the best description! However most Evertonians are not like that, we have a lot less of these 'Sky' fans than most teams!

If the media were to be believed about a growing "pink" contingent of the blue army, then he would have probabaly got a nice, camp "whoooo"
