just asking your thoughts on the rate of the euro at the moment.and will you be cutting back on spending

1-will you be cutting back on drinks ( a few less beers)
2-not going on so many trips
3-cut back on clubnights
4-less tipping to staff ect
5-spend less on food any other hol items when your away

i do feel sorry for familys and younger ones who did have say £1000.00 to spend...now they only have £850.00 say.with the rate it is today.

do you think this will put a lot off going to ibiza and any euro place.i do feel sorry for any bar staff this year and hotel staff.when the tips they get make up most off there wages.for the year.i am lot loaded but will be cutting back a bit.just to make up the short fall...i know many people where i live are staying at home or not even going away this year at all

gone are the cheap hols this year.i may be lucky getting a cheap flight and 20% off my hotel bill...

i only really go to get my haircut my excuse to go a way...ibiza junkie

I feel your pain on the value of the Euro! At $1.58, it's the worst it's ever been! None of my friends can afford to go even though they'd love to. To be honest, I think that Ibiza is about the most expensive place in the world to visit from the United States. I can't even get there without first spending $1,500!

But to answer your question, I can't think of anything I'm really cutting back on. Other than the Pacha restaurant, I don't tend to eat at any "expensive" places. Out of a two week stay in Ibiza I probably go clubbing about 7 nights and I don't think that I'd cut back on that either.

Dont intend to cut back on anything, but I never do on holiday, We have savings that we add to every month and we use what we need to out of that for holidays etc. but then I dont have children that I need to pay for and entertain for 14 days and nights.....

Although having said that I spoke to several people in finance and every single one of them is advising to buy €'s now, because it will get lower over the next few months....... which is something I might do at the w/e:?

is it really going to get that bad??

Well, it has been discussed in wider financial circles that by mid to late summer we could be looking at a matching £ to €, (worse case scenario) so if Ibiza prices are going to carry on rising in respect of the type of clientele they are hoping to attract to the Island going forward, then it aint going to be a viable economic hotspot for some holidaymakers but that's just in my opinion...

however, could all just be scaremongering and the € could stay as it is..... who knows in this current climate....:?:?

it is really bad coming from the US. trips this year are DOUBLE the price they were listed last year on the travel websites (expedia, etc) It sucks so bad. Maybe next year will be better. I think the gas situation has added to the Jet fuel prices. Especially coming from the states.

I think you guys have always had a pretty raw deal with the costs of travel from the US My best friend lives out in SF and I have been trying to get him to come out to stay with us for the past 6 years - but he balks at the cost of a flight to Europe to be honest. :spank:

we were considering selling everything here and starting again in ibiza, but based on the difference in exchange rate from this time last year, we'd be looking at a hit of near £40K. ouch!!

i don't bother working out the comparative values anymore, I just go based on £1 to €1.

My parents lose quite a lot in exchange rates - they have an english and cypriot bank accounts and when it a good rate they transfer a shed load of cash and when its a lower rate they try to transfer the bare minimum....

its the safest way I think - you can only be pleasantly surprised at the change you get back at the end...:lol:

what should i do

i'm going to ibiza on the 4th of may should i get my euros here or when i get over there. does anyone know what the rate is over there. :D
