Sorry but this is going to be long! I feel I need to give some background and context to help to explain the melancholy way I'm still feeling now over a week after my return. This is probably my 6th visit to Ibiza. Easy to lose count! The first time would have been 10 years ago, aged 20 when I stayed in San An (obviously!) for a week. We decided we weren't going home but got as far as missing our coach and realising we had no money left to stay. Went home and saved for a few weeks and went back till the end of the season working at Mambos. That was the time I actually joined this forum! Can't beleive it was so long ago but then I can as so much has changed, but never the feeling of wanting to return.
The last time I was in Ibiza before this visit was for my wedding anniversary for 3 nights in 2011. I had also been the year before for my hen do. Slight contrast in those trips. Whilst my hen do was fab, we crammed so much into 4 days in terms of clubs and daytime parties and general excess that by day 4 we were all a mess. The comedown started before we even arrived home! In 2011 we actually only made We Love and really didn't enjoy it so left early. It used to be my favourite night but just doesn't do it for me anymore. Wasn't a big issue as the big night was going to be Cocoon on our last night. Unfortunately this was not to be as the hubby got a severe case of the shits! I didn't fancy going it alone but have to say I was devastated that we couldn't and I left Ibiza feeling unsatisfied. In terms of location we had it much better that year. Staying in Playa Den Bossa in hotel club Bahamas. Near enough to all the action but far enough away to get a decent rest between clubs and parties.
Since then we have had a gorgeous baby girl so life has certainly been too busy for Ibiza for a few years! Last year it seemed like literally everyone we knew was in or going to Ibiza at some point so we agreed this year would be the time to go back for a massive joint 30th birthday celebration. Weddings and more baby announcements got in the way so it ended up just being me and my husband and my best friend and her pal. Actually we realised this was an ideal group size in the end. This year needed to be the perfect year as we didn't know when we would be back again.
Right I'll get started on my actual review next (sorry I said it would be long!)

So flight was at 6:15 on the Thursday morning which I thought was a decent time when booking, and much better than a night flight. Hadn't anticipated that it meant getting up at half 3 and that actually most people on the flight probably hadn't been to bed. Husband and daughter had been plagued with a sickness bug all week but I refused to be Ill and that positive attitude lasted till the flight home. Husband was still a bit ropey in the morning but daughter had gone to bed ok at my Mums so that was a huge relief. Massive que through security at Manchester but we finally got through and met up with our friends and managed one drink before boarding. Excitement levels were huge and I was feeling surprisingly fresh on 4 hours sleep. I'm used to a lack of sleep these days and not through partying! Me and hubby were at the back of the plane and the excitement soon wore off as we realised we were sat behind and in front of the scum of the earth. All had their own booze and were even getting on it on the plane! Numerous warnings before we even took off and then a near brawl mid flight. The girls were so unbelievably loud and annoying that the flight felt like 2 days not 2 hours, and they would only serve us one drink to help numb the pain! Anyway we eventually made it and the horrific flight was instantly forgot, especially when we knew we were waving them all off to San An and we were heading to Ibiza Town. I will break it down now.

Thursday - arrived to Nautico Ebeso hotel in Figueretes just outside of Ibiza town around 10 ish and instantly knew we had picked the perfect location. For the price we paid the hotel was gorgeous. Right on the seafront and room and lounge areas all lovely. Definitely the best place I have stayed in Ibiza to date.

We were all starving by the time we had settled in so headed off for breakfast. Didn't have to go far. Plenty of nice restaurants along the front. We ate and also picked up our tickets for Enter ready for the night then headed back to the pool for some much needed relaxation, sun and sangria. Couldn't believe our luck with the weather. Not a cloud in the sky and it had been thunderstorms every day up to us arriving.

Headed out for tea around 9ish just to one of the nearby restaurants. It was ok. Nothing special but did the job of lining the stomach for the night ahead. We left for Playa Den Bossa around 11. Tiredness was starting to kick in a little so this is where some of the wronguns on the plane actually came in useful in the form of supply stocking! Of course you are always paranoid it's not working and take more than you should on your first night. A couple of blurry hours later we decided going to Space would be a good idea as the urge to dance had fully taken over. To be honest I don't remember too much of the next hour or so but from what I can remember the music was good from start to finish. Hubby still feeling Ill left at 3 but I was in no mood to be anywhere but in Space. Unfortunately I lost my other friends immediately after he left. By this time Richie Hawtin had come on and I was enjoying the set. A slow starter but a feeling that it was picking up and up with each track he mixed in. I had a wander round looking for my friends without too much look. It didn't really matter so much as I was making friends as I went. Probably because of my generosity of sharing my magic powder. No wonder it had disappeared by the time I got home! I found myself back in the main room for more of Hawtins set with my new friends. By this point the set was really taking off and I had no intentions of moving away, which is when my friends appeared. We all headed nearer to the front to get more involved with the action. I think we stayed till about half 7ish when our bodies had just about quit on us and the energy of the music had gone down a notch. It had been a long day taking into account the 3:30 start. As luck would have it a bus to Ibiza town turned up just as we left and dropped us off right near our hotel. Thank god as my legs were about to buckle. Went to bed feeling very satisfied that our first night had been a big success (obviously I felt bad about the hubby leaving early but other than that brilliant! ;-)) sleep came instantly which is always a welcome turn up. Shame I only managed 4 hours though.

More to follow....

Sorry will try to finish this tonight, or at least add a little more. A teething baby and the hangover from hell have hampered my progress!

Friday- woke up around half 11 after going to bed at 8. Tried in vain to get some more sleep but gave up after an hour and headed to the pool. Felt rather ropey but not too bad. Headed for breakfast of Paella with the husband. No sign of the other 2 surfacing! The Paella was a bad idea and especially the bread to accompany it. Serious mouth issues going on! Energy levels dramatically dropping, we had a little wander into ibiza town. No chance of heading up the Dalt Villa today so just sat on the front in awe of the ridiculously sized yachts. Managed a smoothie but even that didn't sit very well. Headed back as a snooze around the pool was desperately needed. I didn't manage much sleep at all, if any so no big plans for the night , just headed for a nice meal to Ibiza town. We chose the wrong place and the service and food was pretty rubbish, but to be fair I don't think any of us could have done a decent meal justice. At least it was cheap. All exhausted we headed back to the hotel and were in bed for around midnight/ 1.

Sat- what a difference a decent nights sleep makes. Another day of no plans club or party wise, as the plan was to get another earlish night and head to Amnesia early in the morning. This is where the regret sets in. I had originally wanted to go to the Cirque De La Nuit boat party, but we decided against it as wanted to be fresh for a day/ night/ day session at Amnesia and then Space. Instead we opted for a trip up Dalt Villa. I was feeling fresh until I started that walk! More relaxing around the pool with cocktails and then a few hours at Nassau with more cocktails and some sushi. I had been craving some sushi since I arrived, but pretty disappointed to see on their menu that all the fish is frozen for at least 24 hours. Criminal considering their prices! Still I always enjoy lazing around there. Headed further down the beach and stopped off at No Name Bar. Wish we would have timed it right and been there for one of their after parties. It was around 5/6 ish and it was quiet most places other than people heading to Ushuaia for the closing with Marco Carola. Really wasn't fussed about that though. Not interested in Ushuaia, and by the sounds of it, it wasn't anything spectacular.

More supplies obtained and then off for a meal in Figueretes. Gorgeous Lobster in a lovely fish restaurant called Es Miratge. In bed at midnight/ 1 again, hoping Amnesia is worth giving up my night tonight. Ok I know we could have gone that night! :) hearing all the parties from Pacha and Playa den Bossa I was regretting the decision to stay in, but it didn't disturb me too much and soon I was asleep.

Sunday morning- woke up at 8 and had a decent breakfast at the hotel washed down with cava. More drinks in the room whilst getting ready for Amnesia closing and a few little pick me ups. Very strange feeling after only being awake for an hour but seemed to do the trick. We spent far too much time dicking around, talking crap and getting ready that we didn't leave until 10. We were in Amnesia for half past and again feeling a little strange and far too sober so started playing the catch up game. Headed straight to the terrace which was pretty amazing to take in. So many sweaty bodies, some that would have been going for hours and hours. Impressive. Wasn't too impressed with the music in there though, so moved into the main room. Got quite into the set by Joseph Capriati. The music was so unbelievably loud though. It actually hurt my throat. Could see why people had earplugs in. Didn't quite understand this when we first went in.

When we moved back into the terrace I think we took in sets from Seth Troxler, Eats everything and then finally Luciano and Villalobos. There were good points, but don't feel it ever got going. Just seemed boring and lazy at times. Felt like some were playing like they were in exactly the same state as some of the people that had been there from midnight. Some of the mixing was terrible even. Not what I would expect from a closing party. By about half 2 we'd had enough. Left feeling frustrated and disappointed. There were flyers being handed out for the after party at No Name bar. Kind of wish we would have checked that out rather then gone to Amnesia. I think quite often the after parties can be better than the main event, plus you haven't forked put 50 + euros for a tickets and more for drinks, so even if you're not feeling it, it's no big loss.

Headed back to the hotel for a chill and a few more drinks around the pool. The girls went to bed for a bit. Bit of a reoccurring theme. Turns out me and the husband found it much easier to keep going on little sleep than them. Obviously the practice we have had the last 16 months looking after our daughter!

Managed to eat some food at the hotel to line the stomach for a kind session at Space closing. Had real high hopes for this one, so was feeling excited if not a little spaced out from dodgy stuff!

Nearly finished!

Sunday Night- arrived at Space just before 9 and caught the end of the Disclosure set. Not much to say about that really! However I was in absolute awe of the outside stage and lights and just general feel of Space carpark. First time at Space closing and it was winning me over from the start. Not too sure what we did for the next hour other than get a little messy! Bumped into a few people we had met earlier in the holiday but had to make our excuses and lose them as they were becoming increasingly clingy and just wanted to talk, talk, talk. I'm all for a messy conversation in a toilet cubicle but not right then and not when I wanted to DANCE! Stayed outside for Richie Hawtins set which I liked, and we were positioned right near the side door where Carl Cox came out to give us all a little wave ahead of his set, along with Pepe. Pepe was also handing out free drink tokens. We got a few. Ace. What a ledge! We stayed for the first half maybe not as long as that for the Carl Cox set. The thing about Carl Cox is you know what you are going to get. On the whole that is full on techno set with loads of energy, but on the other side it's sometimes just a little predictable. Just sometimes! On this occasion we just felt the need to check out some other DJ's so we headed inside. Stayed in the Discotheque for the next hour or two and took in most of the set of Jose de Devina, and from what I remember it was good! I did a lot of dancing around this time I think anyway. After that I started to flag. All needed a bit if a break before Deep Dish came on. Was looking forward to that one. The last time I saw Deep Dish together was at Global gathering in 2005 I think! Loved them then and I had in my head they may play a similar deep house type of set with techno thrown in. Didn't quite go down like that! Headed to the sunset terrace for a chill. Met a lovely Danish couple, and by the way thank you ibiza for making me feel young again. Felt like the average age in Space that night was mid thirties. I was starting to think I was getting a bit too old for clubbing, but gong back to Ibiza reminded me you are never too old!! Had a bit of a moment dancing and signing along to Duke - so in love with you. I was a little disappointed there wasn't a few more house songs played here and there during the night. I love techno, but sometimes you just need a good old house song to lift you, and keep you going. Either that or really good gear, and on that front we were really lacking!!

Headed back to the Discotheque for Deep Dish. Still really flagging so hoping that the set is decent enough to get us through to Gaiser and Nina Kraviz with the ultimate goal of powering through for Carl Cox and Nic Fanciulli on the terrace.......
