Thailand

I loved Thailand!! What do you want to do there?
Is it more of a beach holiday? or mix it up with trekking and 'culture'?

Feel free to bell me any time for advice - I spent ages in Thailand.

For a short break, I think this would be ideal for you.
It's reeeally secluded - you can only reach it by boat. It's got all sorts of accommodation options and it's got a club attached full of complete f*** heads on mushies.

...oh and it ain't far from the legendary back yard.

I think this place has it all because you're surrounded by jungle and the beaches are amazing.

There are plenty more places to stay but I'm guessing you've not got long...so I reckon this is ideal. (it's where I met weese)

That looks amazing - exactly the kind of thing we'd want :D

I guess we would be looking to spend a couple of weeks in Thailand - would you recommend staying in the same place (bear in mind I can be a lazy cow when I want to be  ) or staying in a couple of different places??

My mate brought me a bottle of Thai Whisky back with him - not sure how they make it but I am convinced it contains speed or some other stimulant - its rank but its funny as ......... 8) 8) and great for a good night out

Its not speed, but it contains a certain amphetamine.

The red bull over there is also very different, like a syrup, and it also contains a type of amphetamine.

Put it this way Babs, after youve had a few buckets the night before (thats Samsong (thai whiskey), vodka and thai red bull) you feel awful the next day, and you cant sleep!

all good fun tho.

Get on the Chang beer. Its rocket fuel.

That's the stuff - also a bit of a tummy upset too if you drink too much of it... still always good to try new exotic things.....

That place looks fantastic .....in the spa....8GBP for a 60 minute aromatherapy massage 8O and 5GBP for a foot massage.....unbelievable!:D

See even that sounds like a rip off to me !!! I wouldn't really consider that inexpensive... especially for thailand!

She's not a pikey backpacker!!!

Babs - if you want something at a quarter of the price then stay on the next beach along. Still really lovely but don't expect the same standards. You'll get something amazing at the Sanctuary.

...and the crowd is lovely! Expect full on tree hugger hippies that barely have one foot on the ground, lovely family types and complete fook heads that have done too much acid and got stuck.

A really bizarre combination and miles away from the usual traveller riff raff that tend to populate the island like cancer.

The alternative is to stay in a completely different area (or island) but I think for a short stay Koh Phangan has everything you need.

You might want to pop over to Samui for a few days to visit Gecko bar (where Danny Rampling did his non-retirement...say hi to them from me if you do) and ride an elephant.

Samui isn't as nice tho - it's much more built up...urgh - just stick to the north beach and the elephant bit. ;)

Koh Tao is for divers but also beautiful. Jansom bay is a great find.

...

Alternatively - forget all the above and do something really different:

If you go there, you're really out in the sticks...you won't see any travellers at all (a huge plus) and monkeys will wake you up in the morning.
Expect to see the odd millionaire floating around too. It's a really special place and the world's best yoga teachers choose to do their main retreats there...endorsements don't get much better than that.
It's the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life, streets ahead of anywhere else in Thailand.

Like I said, if you want to meet and discuss (with intermittant wine and poppers ) you're very welcome.

hee hee! maybe I was a pseudo backpacker at that time!

but.. honestly.. I stayed at some places that were definitely nicer than any hotel in Ibiza or many other places.. and about 1/30th of the price!

You're a star - got me summed up to a tee  And for some bizarre reason I trust your opinion  ;) It's all in the planning stage at the mo but I think we should def reconvene and discuss it over a few bottles of rose and poppers
