For the first time a bit of competition is coming against the Bambuddha which should force John Moon (the owner) to make a bit more of an effort on his restaurant....Come on, it's been there unchanged for so long, there's always room for improvment.
Basil Thai is in Jesus, has beautiful food and also beautiful decoration....
I highly recommend it !!

Cheap, fast and gorgeous food. Not far from Bar M, Itaca etc.
Very different ambience to the places mentioned above though.
Edging towards the cafe style rather than oppulent surroundings.

Totally agree! Fantastic and very, very cheap - Mr C was at the table next to us when we went.

Totally agree too, Casa Thai is an excellent adress...Owners are going every year in thailand to buy the best products...

The decor isnt too hot and the service is very abrupt and not friendly but the food is really good and it is excellent value for money

Totally have to agree that Casa Thai is the best muncheria in San An!!! But don't knock the decor - how authentic can you get!!! Feel like I'm actually in Thailand when I'm chompin on my lovely green curry!!! Hehe!!!![]()
And put it this way - would you be friendly if you had to work as hard as the staff do EVERY DAY OF THE DAMN YEAR!!!!
LOVE IT THERE!!!!! MMMM - My mouth is watering at the very thought!!!!![]()

I agree that Casa Thai is great but plastic chairs and sitting on a main road are for quick lunchtime snacks only.
A couple of nights ago I went to Basil Thai in Jesus and I've got to say that the prices are up there with London's best. Sixteen euros for curried chicken (and steamed rice is extra) needs to be an exceptional dish in exceptional surroundings. Sadly it wasn't. The staff were nice and friendly and they were very kind to my dog bringing him scraps from the kitchen throughout the night. But value for money it ain´t.
