Hi all.

Doesn’t seem to be much techno on the island this year. Is there a reason for this or is it just younger folk are not into real techno that much

Ibiza is business techno not real techno. Nobody goes to Ibz for real techno…that’s what Tresor’s for. Not a single one of the branded stage merchants in Ibiza could do this in a million years:

 
My definition of real techno is what the sun god posted. Jeff Mills, sims, surgeon, klock, rodhad for example. I also dont see dettmann or klock playing anywhere this year and no cocoon. Many years ago we saw dettmann play before mills at space along with sandwell disctrict and skudge in the discoteca alone, miss kitten, ivan smagghe and dan ghenacia were in another room (I know they are not techno) , dont see any line ups like that although i am a bit older now. Not saying it was better way back when type of thing just that I dont see much proper techno nowadays that i did before. I agree about business techno id forgotton that term but it sums it up nicely.

Just wasnt sure if I am missing anything. We are actually in ibiza with our kids just now and hoping to sneak out for some clubbing at night.

We just miss amnesia opening :(

To be fair no one else on Earth could do that. Jeff is definitely from another planet that's what makes him the wizard.

I agree, a tough act to follow, although technically Jerome Hill, Bone, Ben Sims, UR are all superb too

Am not gonna bullshit anyone as no techno expert (I only ever really did Lost or Fabric and the odd illegal thing in London) and maybe there is a whole crop of amazing kids coming through I’ve never heard of, but when I see someone awful like Charlotte de Witte billed as a ‘techno force of nature’, something has gone badly wrong
