Can't decide whether to hire a car or just use taxis and buses late September. Would it be difficult to get a taxi out of cala d'hort or would it be possible to order 1 if we eat at a restaraunt?

all down to wether you would like to drink with your meal.so car hire is nice.but taxi safer if drinking.order a taxi is best.

After actually doing this myself I wouldn't recommend a taxi out of there, to say it was a nightmare is an understatement
Long story short, we asked both the beach side cafe's to order us a cab and must of took an hour to get through, the first actually just apologized and gave us the number which we already had and had tried repeatedly to ring to no avail. Think I was so wound up at the point where we didn't think we were gonna get home I decided we would walk 8O Luckily a cab arrived at the last hour and saved the day and that was only in June when they werent busy. Take a car

I'm going in the very last couple of days in September will there not be people getting dropped off in taxis? I don't want to go there and one of us not drink cos we are only staying for 4/5 nights

See above on getting taxis from outlying beaches. Don't think it being late September is really the critical factor - more luck on the day. Just be prepared to hang about for hours and weather a load of hasstle for the privilege of having a drink and be happy if things go smoothly. Alternatively, pre-book one for after you finish your meal

To be honest it isn't the kind of place you would have enough beer to not be able to drive, not sure why you would ever go to a beach to get drunk :?
Go for it if you like but be warned, my unfortunate day was not exclusive. It happens, but you might be lucky and get a cab straight away, if you don't believe me it will soon get stressful when you realise you could come unstuck absolutely miles from anywhere. And you wont be walking them unless you want to risk death. You'd be safer letting someone drive back drunk in all honesty.

I dont plan on sitting on a beach getting drunk I was thinking more going there for a sunset meal and having a quick drink but I get where your coming from. We drove there the other week it wouldn't be too clever to attempt to walk it to the nearest village and people do funny things when under the influence!

Sounds wholesome 8)
I wouldn't mind taking it in without over indulgence for the sake of getting back safely though. Just too risky and that was 6pm I can only imagine it being worse at night. Perhaps ask the nice staff for a lift home after service
