Tapas for One??

Guys - do restaurants tend to serve Tapas for 2 people or more???

Phil isnt that bothered about the different servings so I tend not to order because I am under the impression that restaurants dont serve Tapas for one - am I wrong - is it quite acceptable to order this dish for one? Or will I have to look like a right greedy bloater and order Tapas for 2 but eat it all myself (which isnt really a problem but dont want to look like a greedy cow)...

Thanks

this rival's grego's euro thread!

a tapa is a small portion which you can eat yourself or share with your loved one. you can order one or as many as you feel you can eat!

a ración is a double tapa ideal for when you're having it large!

a pintxo is a little tiny tidbit on a stick! more difficult to share but it is possible.

i think you need a local guide when you're in san jose

Have you ever shared a pintxo, stephen? 8O

Puppy, I would have a Ración if I wanted my tapa (1) as a main or starter. If I want different things I would ask for few tapas.

Probably,     but in Newcastle, when you visit any of our 4 tapas restaurants - its servings for 2 people or more on the menu - which made me ask the question ......

Thanks for clearing that up....:)

Local guide definately..... 8)

Noooooo! What size are each tapa? is it a settled menu or you can choose as many as you want?

There's no rules with tapas, you can eat them any time of the day or the night, you can eat them in a bar or in a posh restaurant, in the bar or ina table on your own or with people, as a proper meal or just as a aperitive ;)

Its usually a set menu of say 8 selections for £xx.xx or you can pick and choose from a tapas selection (for 2 people or more). Its a bit like ordering Paella - its always a dish for 2 ...:spank: :spank: :spank: grrrr!!

??????

btw, has anyone else been tempted by La Tasca

http://www.latasca.co.uk/home/1/home/home.html

a fairly new chain of tapas restaruants in the uk. the food is really really awful. cheap ingredients and greasy fried stuff. truly horrible

aparently however, the current trend in restaruants is ( i kid you not) the "tapasising" of menus. this means serving lots of different plates of food instead of one big dinner.

ive seen italian, indian and even thai 'tapas' advertised on menus recently. the greeks stick to a meze though.

most of the food at la tasca is mass produced stuff that gets reheated in the microwave. :? horrible.

i've no problem with reheating stuff that gets a bit nippy if it's been cooked well. the la tasca stuff is like eating budget ready meal freezer food.

We would never call that to a tapas dinner we would say it's a "tasting menu". But now I'm not sure if we could consider a taste of spaguettis as a tapas or not :?

Babs, what we have at the odd 52 are not tapas, it's just a tasting menu

It's a sinn. Why don't they allow you to have tapas on your own? it just does not make sense cos tapas are already cocked (traditionally they are displayed in the bar and they just need to heat and serve) :?

Paella is always for 2, unless you are having a menu on a thursday ;)

you know it's good cos they haven't got pics of the food outside.;)

Not that sure on that one. If it's Paellador Pics then it's a big no no, but if it's "bocadillo" pics and "platos combinado" pics then you may be wrong. It's a bit of a lotery actually

There's been a La Tasca in Ealing for a few years, we once thought we'd give it a go over our normal tapas place (La Siesta) - never again, was truly cheap, horrible and greasy

Agreed, and la siesta do better rose don't they ;) all 5 bottles of it. 8O
