Taking pics with digital cameras...

Just wondering if anyone could help with this, would really appreciate it!

Bought a half decent Nikon digital camera a while back but have never quite figured out how to use it to full effect (especially in nightclubs etc).

I remember reading somewhere that the best way to take effective photos in nightclubs etc, is to snap away with the flash off whenever the lights/lasers in a club are quite intense but anytime I try to take a photo with the flash off on my digi cam it just seems to come out a blurry mess - anyone know how to prevent this?

Any other general tips on digital nightclub photography would be much appreciated, hoping to get some cool pics this summer as opposed to the normal blurry/so black you can't actually see anything one's I come home with!

Your camera should have a long exposure with flash setting. This effectively acts like there's no flash (hence you get all the pretty colours), and then snaps in a flash at the end to give you some clarity. Most of the pics on my site below are shot this way..

yeah, that sounds like what I was trying to figure out! Will have a go tonight and see if I get anywhere...here's hoping!!
