T in the Park review

Saturday

Got there about 2 so missed out on Sneak & Silicone Soul. The new entry system was abandoned for this day as the queue had about 3000 people trying to get in. A couple of skips in the queue and we got in (secret booze stash unchecked too) Wandered about the new layout (very confusing for regulars) with the group i was with, just getting slowing drunk.

Headed to the main stage and saw EMBRACE(not my cup of tea) then THE KILLERS. They were absolutely amazing, such a big crowd watching them and Brightside & All These Things were particular faves.

I then left my group to go and see THE STREETS. I thought that The Killers wouldn't be topped all weekend but its just possible that The Streets did just that. A brilliantly energetic show with Mr. Skinner being in a very cheeky frame of mind indeed. (several references to Robbie Williams & his cringe-worthy sing a long at Live8)

For the headliners i had the choice of James Brown, Super Furry Animals & New Order but i plumped for RICHIE HAWTIN vs RICARDO VILLALOBOS.

I'm not hugely into Techo and was up with minimal or whatever these dudes are playing but it absolutely rocked. Danced my ass off for the rest of the night.

Sunday

Got there earlier to find the ticket scanners on but no queue :D
Managed to get Sundays booze in (minus a couple of cans).

Headed straight for the main stage, settled down well back to relax in the blazing sun, got a shit load of beers in and listened to ATHLETE (again, not my thing) followed by RAZORLIGHT. Excellent show from them, love the album and live they were even better.

After that the group split up, well actually - they all headed to the Second Stage for the rest of the day and i headed for the Slam Tent.

I met up with some friends there and caught the last half of ALEX SMOKE. Cracking music from him - will need to keep an eye out for him. Took shelter in the tent from the mega hot sun while TWO LONE SWORDSMEN were on, imo they were absolute crap but thats maybe just me.

SLAM dj-ed next and tho its been 3 years since i caught a Slam DJ set, I wasn't disappointed. MYLO played a live set next and i was blown away. The album is tremendous but live it took on legs and ran. So much energy and much more oomph put into the tracks.

BLACKSTROBE were next on the decks and like Slam it was a cracking set. Wandered out to get some more beer and timed our return to the Slam Tent to catch Alter Ego do Rocker!!!!.

My intention was to slip in the B-Bar for Honey Dijon to end the weekend but DAVE CLARKE came on in the Slam Tent and i found myself unable to leave.

All in all, absolutely storming weekend - great music, good laughs, plenty of drink and sunshine all the way!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

sounds fantastic, great review. Not made a T yet, but getting more and more tempted.

It is even hotter up here today, think we are pushing 30  (used for the purpose of demonstrating a hot face, not embarressment ;) )

Just back from my first trip to T in the Park and I had an absolutely fantastic time.

On Saturday made it by the farcical queue in time to catch SILICONE SOUL in the Slam tent, really bassy house music and it created a really cool groove, stayed on for dj SNEAK and was not disappointed. ive waited three years to see him and thought he was superb, again really bassy tunes with some disco sounds thrown in from time to time.

Eventually left the Slam tent and wandered round to the Barcadi B-Bar to catch HARRI and DOMENIC from the Sub Club. the B-Bar was great and made all the better by the scorching weather and the Barcadi cocktails, Basil on the bongo drums also added to the experience.

On the band front, went to the KILLERS at the main stage and thought they were pretty good, Mr Brightside being the standout. Left there and went to the King Tuts Tent to catch the DOVES who were excellent and also to get a spot for the Godfather of soul JAMES BROWN and although he was 40 minutes late coming on in a boiling tent it was worth it.

On the Sunday, went over a bit later and headed for the Slam tent to get out of the sun for a while, we dont usually get weather in the 80s in Scotland. I really enjoyed seeing ADA, i have to say though i had never heard of her before, but she played really good electronic music with dirty big bass lines. SLAM played a fanatstic dj set and MYLO was also really good. Left there to go and see SNOOP DOGG at the main stage and he really put on a good show even though its not really my thing.

Finally went over to the NME stage to see KASABIAN who were excellent, but the best act of the whole festival was by far the PRODIGY who were out of this world. I have never seen a crowd go so mental in all my life.

On the whole, a great weekend at a great festival and will definately be going back next year.

TINTHEPAR YET AGAIN IMPROVES.B-BAR LINE UP IMPRESSIVE! JUST ORDERED 2006 TICKETS,BRING IT ON!!!

tickets for 2006 already purchased

they put 20,000 on sale today at 9am (some with camping, some without)

ticketmaster had now sold out of non-camping and there are few left of the camping ones

Next years will be even better methinks

I had a fantastic time too after discovering at the 11th hour that I had passes.

Highlights for me were Alex Smoke, Ada, Slam, Mark Farina, The Prodigy and Super Furry Animals.

Made all the sweeter by staying in a very nice, on-site campsite with power-showers, 'proper' loos...and a paddling pool!

Oh, and I got VIP passes for the BBar, so free food and cocktails and a damn fine tan. :D

9am today

I would advise anyone wanting to get tickets when they go on sale next year to be v.fast. The No-Glastonbury factor will make it sell out quicker than last year and that sold out in 3/4 days

but they are indeed money grabbing barstewards

i was at oxegen festival near dublin mate

practically the same line up

bad start bit of rain and my tent leaked but who cares about that

we fired in from the camp site at 3pm after a few drinks, saw the kaiser chiefs(excellent set) then razorlight(wee bit disappointing for me)

then went to the dance tent a scoot think it was blackstrobe playing, had a wee dance and went back to the tent for some more vodka

came back up and saw half a set by the frames(irish band) highly recommend listening to their stuff excellent musicians, then we went to the green room for athlete(excellent set and well suited to being in a tent)

then it was out to the main stage for greenday, and they sure didnt disappoint, really rocked the place and put on an amazing show, highlight being time of your life to finish (oh and we are the champions, quite nice for a rangers supporter to be singing when surrounded by celtic supporters)

then it was round to the dance tent for half and hour or so of morillos set, and he had the place bouncing and i went off to my tent a happy camper

next day up at 8 tore into the beer and the glorious sunshine made it fantastic

went into the main event bit about 12 for food and a walk round, then saw teh beautiful south(i fell asleep) then next up it was feeder, they rocked the main stage with some great tunes(notably buck rogers)

went back to the tent after that for some more vodka and to escape the 30 degree heat, not good for a freckly geezer like me

went back for the streets, who imo were excellent, teh dublin crowd didnt really appreciate them though, specially coz they kept takin the piss by askin how are u manchester and stuff :D :D next up after them it was the killers, who were absolutely top class every tune had me bouncing

after the killers we went into a tent to catch the last half hour of embrace and they were really excellent, never really listened to them but im starting to now, as soon as the finished it was over to the new band stage for the magic numbers(buy the album its a great listen) and they didnt disappoint, their half hour set was just far too short if u can go and see them............

then it was into the dance tent for deep dish, one of my highlights of the whole festival, they had a tired and weary crowd (after 3 days solid debauchery) absolutely bouncing and i was sad to have to leave half way through

finished off on the main stage for the foo fighters, they played a good set but just didnt work the crowd anywhere near as well as greenday the previous night

all in all i had a fantastic weekend and will be returning next year without a doubt :D :D :D

For the headliners i had the choice of James Brown, Super Furry Animals & New Order but i plumped for RICHIE HAWTIN vs RICARDO VILLALOBOS.
