Although we don’t celebrate Easter in Japan, there are a few similitudes with Sanja Matsuri. This ‘Three Shrine Festival’ takes in hundred of parades around three mikoshi (floats – like the Spanish pasos) on their way to the oldest sanctuary in Tokio, Senso-ji. Nearly two million people visit over the three days of the festival every year, on the third full weekend in May.

Meanwhile, in Ibiza and during the Easter holidays we will open from 23rd March till 2nd April, Wednesdays to Saturdays. After, sorry for the inconvenience, will be closed till 27th April – when we will be back for our fifth summer season, the last one in our current location, Plaza de Sa Drassaneta.

Happy Easter!

There are amazing Sanja Matsuri pictures on Danielle & aAxel blog: Issekinicho

Best rice, best sake

We are really proud to present our new sake menú for 2016. A personal selection from the chef, Hideki Aoyama, that in his latest trip to Japan visited Fukunishiki brewery, in Hyogo prefecture, where his mother family come from and where the best rice for sake is harvested.

Harmony between man and nature is the theme of this old brewery where sake is made in a manual and traditional process.

We have brought to Ibiza three perfect sake references that, except from Japan, will be exclusively on sale at Sushiya Aoyama:

Jun Sei (Junmai) 純青
Kamishiro no Mai (Junmai Ginjo) 神代の舞
Zuifuku (Junmai dai Ginjo) 瑞服

Tanabata at Sushiya Aoyama
Evening of the Seventh
5th-9th July, from 8pm

The Milky Way separates the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi. They are allowed to meet only once a year: on the 7th of July.

In Japan we celebrate this day writing wishes on small pieces of paper and hanging them on bamboo.

From Tuesday 5th to Saturday 9th July we celebrate Tanabata at Sushiya Aoyama, every night from 8pm and invite you to share your wishes with us.

Happy Tanabata!

^^ Was delicious .... I could eat another slate full right now !!! Still the best value top quality sushi in Ibiza imo . in the most authentic setting. Was great to catch up, still in denial about being back !!!

-Sushiya Aoyama.
