SUSHIYA AOYAMA: Sushi & sake at the bar

Chef Hideki Aoyama opens his new restaurant Sushiya Aoyama in this, the first weekend of May,
with a special Japanese menu and Sushi Workshop as part of the 5th Ibiza-Japanese Week.

.- Sake and sushi form the backbone of this culinary proposal by Sushiya Aoyoma, a discreet and unassuming sushi bar set just outside the walls of the world heritage site of Ibiza, in Plaza de Sa Drassaneta, off calle de la Virgen, which opens this Friday 4th May.

Its chef, Hideki Aoyama, a graduate from the prestigious Tokyo Sushi Academy, and taught by Japanese Sushi Masters Makoto Fukue and Suehiki Shimizu, claims his inspiration for the Sushiya concept comes from a hybrid of three of the most popular types of eaterie in his homeland of the Rising Sun- the
sushiya (sushi bar), izakaya (tapas bar) y tachinomiya (after-work bar). In each of those, Sake is the drink of choice, just like at Sushiya Aoyama.

The mainstay of the menu is its rice and fish, using the freshest products on the market and the most popular sushi rice amongst Japanese chefs, YumeNishiki. Add to that, common Japanese ingredients like seaweed, tofu, daikon, miso, soya, with Chef Aoyoma preparing daily authentic examples of Japanese originality and flavour.


5th Japanese Week


To celebrate the 5th Japanese Week in Ibiza, Sushiya Aoyoma has prepared a special tasting menu for this weekend, consisting of sake, hijiki salad, chef's selection of sushi and miso soup, Price 15€, Fri 4th and Saturday 5th May from 7pm-11.30pm. This Saturday morning, 4th May also sees Chef Aoyoma give a Sushi Workshop at Sushiya Aoyoma, Plaza Sa Drassaneta, from 11am-1.30pm (Course Full)

discreet and unassuming is definitely a good description for this new sushi bar, nothing to do with the unnecessary pretentiousness often found in many places that serve this type of food..... go check it out ! !

Looks great. Any sample menu photos with prices kicking about ? :p I've always found sushi very pricey in Ibiza compared to elsewhere though the quality can be very good.

Closing week at Sushiya Aoyama / Winter time / Sushi Workshops / Winter Menu

It's Sushiya Aoyama's closing summer week!
From Monday 1st to Saturday 6th October we will be still offering our menú of sushi, sashimi, appetizers, salads and klar, our daily suggestions.
Those who book this week before 8pm receive an appetizer on the house. Please print the voucher or mention it to us

Winter time in Sushiya Aoyama
We re open Sushiya Aoyama for the Winter on the 25th of October, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until the end of the year in the evenings. Including, the nights before the holiday: Wednesday 31st of October and 5th of December.

Food additions
Home made yakitori, steamed clams in sake sauce or tofu and chicken hamburguers. Tofu also for the spicy soup and always the delicious daily miso. Sushi and sashimi from the season freshest fishes and new maki sushi incorporations.

Sushi Workshop
From November, there will be new Sushi workshops available. A succesful one was held on May 5th. Diario de Ibiza said:

SUSHI WORKSHOP

Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in Autumn/Winter, the Japanese restaurant in Ibiza, Sushiya Aoyama, presents three more editions of its popular sushi workshop. A 2 hours and a half course by Hideki Aoyama where you can learn how to make traditional sushi.

As the sushi workshops (21st November and 12th december 7pm & 1st december 11.30am) are already booked, Sushiya Aoyama will offer some more editions next march 2013.

THIS WEEK: YU-TOFU

From Thursday to Saturday we will be adding Yu-Tofu to Sushiya Aoyama's Winter menu, delicious warm tofu bites. We will be also keeping last weeks additions as Spinachs with Sesame and Mini Tofu & Chicken Hamburguers.

1st & 2nd March 2013: Reopening SUSHIYA AOYAMA

We are back from Japan with new ideas for our tiny sushi bar in Ibiza, Sushiya Aoyama, which will reopen 1st and 2nd March 2013 with our usual winter times: From 8pm, on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. However, starting with the new year, we have some new and exciting events coming up:

Special Menu

Open Lunch Time 
Saturdays 16th and 30th of March Sushiya Aoyama will open also at lunch time (12.30-2.30pm), with special dishes of Yakisoba (6€) and Onigiri (3€). As well there is an addition, of a clothes and accesories market: Trash-Tienda, plus LeFlear DJ will be on the decks to help warm up the event. Also on the 16th we will be fundraising for Fukushima.
