Supermarkets

I'm staying in self catered apartments again this year, and would like to cook a bit more there.

Where are there decent supermarkets on the island? The majority of the ones around San An are over priced, and have a very limited availability. As I found out last year, when trying to cook a mexican. >.<

Are there any larger chains on the Island? I read somewhere last year or the year before that a carrefour would be opening at some point. Is that still going ahead?

How long you going on holiday for mate?

I wouldn't worry to much about stocking up the larder with food, eating out is cheap enough as long as you visit the right places and get off the tourist trail.

As far as cooking a Mexican meal, again head to the place in San An, good food, cheap enough, fun night out and save's all the washing up etc.

Surely getting cattered on is all part of the holiday experience, you don't want to spend your time doing the dishes.

If you go to the Eroski just outside San An, make sure you weigh and label any fresh produce you buy... we didn't and caused a stink at the checkout:oops:

It's a great place to shop.

Right next the the marian Apartments by Kanya there is a little local supermarket. We only discoverd it a week into our holiday last year and never looked back. It has everythin there. Even a little butchers at the back of shop. Its dirt cheap aswell as its in a spanish residential area so all the locals go there. If you can find out were the Marian Apartments is on google map or somethin its right next to there

I'm going for two weeks, I don't have the kind of money to feed myself three times a day in a restaurant. Even at €6 a meal (and that's being conservative), thats gonna be about €250.

Would rather cook some nights, just a personal thing.

Will keep that in mind on the Eroski, and the shop by Kanya

Anywhere else?

Couldnt of put it better myself

You wont see me doing alot in our kitchen apart from mixing a few alkaselters up in a huge pint of water  and maybe forcing one of the girls to make me a cuppa 8)

Me and my girlfriend where eating out every morning and night last year for 2 weeks and spent over £600 just on food. Defo a good idea to make your own food. I know ill be doin it a few times this year . I go to ibiza for the clubs and partys and to drink myself silly every night I dont go there for the food.
