but how expensive are day to day things on the island - we're coming to es cana tomorrow, self catering and just need a rough idea of the price of basic foodstuffs.

thanks

Do you mean in supermarkets - everything seems to be cheaper than England and alcohol in the shops is much cheaper.

Calculate how much you spend in the UK for a weeks shopping in pounds, it will be the same amount or less here in Euros. On top of that everything that is naturally produced, i.e. meat, fish, veg, fruit is double the quality.

Thanks - yes, I meant stuff to buy to cook etc - also nappies! we're bringing a load but wondered if it would be cheaper getting them there, though possibly not, methinks.

We always go self catering, but most of the time we just eat out - it is a little more expensive but it's so much nicer just to sit there and have someone else do all the hard work.

compared to Hamburg, Germany, pretty much everything of the day-to-day things is more expensive, actually.

Sure, the small SPAR-supermarket in Figueretas is not cheap, but even the Lidl in Figueretas/Ibiza town or that big supermarket on the right hand side at the road from Ibiza-town to St. Eulalia is more expensive than over here.

And that´s compared for same brands, same packaging.

Germany has pretty low cost for all that day to day stuff, especially food (meat, dairy products, bread etc), when I compare that to Italy, Austria or Croatia.
