Stun Guns

First of all the police are condemed for shoting dead a suspected suicide bomber.

Now when they us a stun gun to take a suicide bomber alive they are again being critisied.

I feel sorry for our armed police it seems there damned and damned if they dont.

I read a few reports in the papers and the head of the Met Police saying that stun guns shouldnt be used as they could set off any explosives on a person.

I can see there point but surely this man would of more use alive than dead

hmm... I wonder if the electric jolt could trigger detonators. Quite a logical conclusion, to be honest... but sad in that it would eliminate a non-lethal tool for the police.

yeah i heard this, what do they want the police to use "colourful language"??

like you say damned if you do, damned if you don't!!!!

I haven't read the specific article, jjnit, but I'm sure the criticism is less with the idea of using the stun gun than the risks that apparently weren't assessed before.

Just a lesson that there's no easy way out :?

i was reading that if a guy is clenching a pressure sensitive trigger, the only way to kill him without causing his grip to relax is to shoot him in the neck??

jeez that is one job i wouldnt like :?

I will ask my firearms instructor this question, and let y'all know his response. By the way what you are talking about is Taser, not Stun Gun. With a SG you have to be within arms reach. The Taser you shoot just like a gun, and two pins with wires come out and penetrate the body of the assailant. The thing with Tasers is that you need to be within close distance of the assailant (maximum 15ft.), and both wires need to be lodged into the assailant (in order to complete the electrical circuit). If you have extra clothing or equipment that will not allow the pins to penetrate, it is useless. 15ft. is too close for comfort for me when guy is packed with some explosives.

If the SO19s train as much as it is publicized, and they carry the H&K MP5 (Heckler & Koch Machine Pistole), which is a superbly accurate semi-auto (and full automatic sub-machine gun), giving them Tasers is probably not the best idea. It has three modes of fire, semi-auto, three round burst and full auto.

they say that the dart merely needs to touch the clothing in order to have an effect??

I have done blow offs that have stopped people in their tracks from around 15ft :?
