Steve Irwin RIP

It wans't as though he was even with a dangerous animal, he was simply swimming in the sea. Stingrays aren't naturally agressive animals. I was watching some expert talking about it this morning and he was saying its all very dubious. He said Stingrays run away from human rather than attack them, and their venom is very mild and can be treated easily, so reports of Irwin being attacked by one might not be true.
There have only been something like 3 deaths on record because of Stingrays so they're not even dangerous creatures.

Very sad though IMO. He done a lot for animal welfare in Australia.
 
i saw the footage of the "him with baby and crocodile" incident. 8O 8O 8O makes jacko's baby dangle thing look mild in comparison.:?
 
How sad, we were only watching him on the TV yesterday, I have always said that what he does is a bit too risky and that he won't always be so lucky.

yeah it was an accident and could have happened to anyone but it was while he was filming a documentary, while he was working, etc............

.........what i mean is its unlikely to happen to anyone cos not everyone will be placing themselves in those sort of situations.

I suppose its probably fitting that he met his end doing what he was doing, rather than getting hit by a truck.

difference being that Irwin was in complete control of the situation at all times (not that i'm all for what he did) - Jackson has not been in control of anything for several years.


RIP to Steve - a huge personality and so focussed on what was good for his environment
I read today that he was instrumental in a ban on rich tourists going to Australia for crocodile slaughters - even if he is remembered only for that its a worthy legacy
