big chief spotlight let us have a week off last week so we thought we'd have a holiday in ibiza. here's my short and sweet review

Stephen's Hols in Argate

Accommodation: in my own comfortable bed
Bars: can bernat, cafe babel, mar y sol, montesol, raco verd, sa clau, somewhere in plaza de la vila, cafe royale, peppermint.
Beaches: cala moli, cala codolar, es codolar
restaurants: can verge, es galliner, es ventall, amarant, la oliva, kiosko, bbq's on the patio
purchases: two funky little tables from la puerta olvidada
achievements: booked our real holidays to deia in mallorca and got a key cut that worked first time
best night: albert cooper and the blues mafia at raco verd - 8 second albert video
disappointment: la oliva – i was just another tourist
discovery: amarant – we've been meaning to go for years and were delighted with our lunch

it's at cala codolar (club delfin). it's owned by terry thomas' son and has a nice relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and views all the way to vedra.

i'd say on a price:quality ratio it was average. €14 is a bit too much for overcooked chicken breast. i also was somewhat peturbed to have my bill presented to me (via a palm top computer) around 15 seconds after i said i didn't want coffee. this is only the second time i haven't been offered a chupito on the house in ibiza (the first was after spending about €90 one lunch time in la barraca - i haven't been back).

to put it into perspective i spent over a day's pay there and i expect something a bit special for that. i didn't get it. i was customer no 37 on an efficient conveyor of customers.

We always eat at La Olive - is that part of la Oliva or just next door to it and sounds the same? Its one of my fav restaurants in Dalt Villa but choose to eat inside though - so much cooler...)

I think she just misspelled it, icebaer... give her a break!

Stephen is right about the conveyor belt at La Oliva, and I'm sure it's worse in July than in June. I do like that place for their consistency, though... everything I've eaten there I've enjoyed. Plus, I enjoy people watching and it's a good spot for that, even if the outdoor seating is a bit cramped.

Stephen - Where is Cala Codolar? Is that in same area as Es Codolar?

cala codolar is the next one round after cala conta going towards es vedra. just after the rave cave if you know where i mean?

stay tuned to this channel because we've got another week's ibiza holiday booked for w/c 11th august. anybody from st. helens fancy a meet up??

La Ventana

We like to eat at La Ventana when we are in the D'alt Vila....

Very pleasent food and a nice atmosphere, find it so much quieter than La Oliva...

Your from St Helens? & ended up in Ibiza?! The biggest leap ever made!

But before you ban me, my gran lives (and my mum grew up) next to Cowley School (denton green), I did my first post A Level qual on day release at St Helens college (where my gran and granddad also met as teachers in bus stud dept) & i'm involved in the design of the new rugby stadium!

your going to say you ment St Helena now aren't you:oops::lol:

is it just me or lots of restaurants are not inviting to a free chupito anymore :?::!:
